Description
My Dad was a quiet sweet unassuming man who I dearly loved and no doubt about his love for me. Sadly I know very little about him... My Mom ruled the roost and her family was all important , so I have lot of info about that side of things... my Mom did not care much for her mother in law. That said, I knew her and visited her often as a child , She lived less than a mile away while my other grandmother lived next door... My Dad was born in Essex, England and had 7 siblings I knew them all... a handsome family my mother first dated my Dad‘s brother, but he was blind and my grandmother was quite opposed to the relationship and my Mom did not want to commit herself to working her whole life, so they broke up and my Dad entered the scene. They had all met at the local neighborhood church youth group which often met at my Mom‘s home. So this is what I knew and felt.

As I delved into genealogy and eventually wondering about my Dad‘s side of things, I found this photo album full of pictures of my Dad‘s early years... Between the years of 1920 &1934 he served 3 tours of duty and traveled extensively, spending much time in China, during the Boxer revolution... also Guam, Hawaii, California. I found the photo in the bar interesting because my mother would never have allowed him to have a sip of the devil alcohol!!

Apparently my sister had a more questioning relationship with him, because she told me she knew he had served in China... There are many commercial images, of the places he served, and lots of snapshots of friends, ... These few are all I could find that I was sure was him, because my Mom had marked them as being him... My Dad and my uncle Ted were drop dead handsome and my dark eyes definitely come from that side of the family!

Wow Liz, this is fabulous! What a wonderful heritage page of your Dad and so glad that you have these wonderful photos as mementos. I enjoyed reading your journaling and I giggled re the bar photo. I immediately thought of my Aunt who would pour out a bottle my Uncle had gotten from customers at Christmas as my Aunt did not have alcohol in her house either :) I love the paper blend and the medal and bits and bobs you have used here to accent your photos. Thank you for sharing and playing along with my MOC challenge! Well done!
