there is so much tucked in goodness here (and i'm sorry to read about the disruptions to your group, air travel can be so unpredictable here too, one of DD's friends was meant to have left for the UK today actually but they were notified the flight was delayed by a day, which is a ridiculous delay to me but what can you do? You made a great page of a not-so great story & situation!
