All in a Day
The boys are back to doing school from home this month and while I am REALLY hoping they are going back to school next week, I am NOT convinced it is going to happen. I thought I'd record what my days have been looking like the last few weeks :)One of the benefits of doing school from home is that I don't have to get up at 6! :) I've been getting up around 7:45. I wake up Cayden, get him dressed and feed him some breakfast while packing his bag for daycare. I get Cameron and Timothy set up with their zoom calls that start at 9, while I am still out driving. I run upstairs to wake up Lucas (which involves spraying him with with water, lol). Pour myself some coffee, get Cayden's outside stuff on and am hoping in the van by 8:20.I drive Cayden to his daycare and back home again, to arrive around 9:30/40. Timothy and Cameron are usually just finishing up their zoom calls and so while they take a break, I sit down and go through their individual classes and put together a list of the things they have to do in the day. After the boys break, I sit beside Timothy as he works on his math and his spelling. Cameron is sitting at the table too and I support his as needed while he does his work. Often by the time they are done, it is time for lunch and then they have another break during which I grab some laundry and get it started in the wash, tidy up the kitchen, and if I am lucky sit down to look at the daily MOC challenge. I work with Timothy and Cameron for another two hours or so in the afternoon. Check in with Lucas and Zachary to make sure that they are staying on track, helping them where necessary as well as scanning in their work so they can submit it. At 3:30, I leave for another hour and a half-ish to go pick up Cayden. When I get home, I give him some snuggles and a snack, and then get started on dinner. Dinner is around 6. Right after dinner I go upstairs with Cayden, get him into his pjs t then put him into bed. When I get downstairs, Zachary and I sit down and I (attempt) to teach/help him with his math. We work for about 2 hours, until 9/9:30. When I am finished with Zachary, then I fold whatever laundry I have washed- ideally with a glass of wine and a show! When that's done, it's off to bed so that I can have energy to do it all over again the next day!while the days are definitely busy, this round of doing school from home feels better than the last one. I have moments during the day where I feel overwhelmed, but I don't feel like I am drowning like I did last time. I am really thankful that Cayden s in preschool this time around, it gives me time to work with the kids without him around, and I actually think that the 2+ hours driving alone-ish in the van really helps my sanity each day.So while I do really hope they all go back to school on Monday, for now...I've got this!
Terrific layout! I love your stamped background, it just looks so good with teh variations in "stamping" and the pops of cheery color. I love your journaling too - so good to document our days like this! My kids are older (middle school, high school and college) - oldest two went back to college yesterday for spring semester - and many days I long for the early years. Even though the days seem so long, the years really, really do fly by! :) Thanks for participating in the challenge!
