The Secret Spice Cafe is a book trilogy by USA's author Patricia V Davis- We are big fans of hers, met at a blog almost 15 years ago, love every piece she wrote and bought her books and read them with passion... when she decided to go for fiction writing, she asked if we would be ok with her naming two of the characters, mother & daughter, with our names. The characters are not us, she made me tall and with lots of money driving a blasting sports car LOL, but the way she captured the mother & daughter relationship is amazing (no surprise though, she is an amazing writer) First book was Cooking for Ghosts, then Spells & Oregano, and now (a couple of days ago!!!) we just got the third book (in the photo) can't wait to start... the journaling in the page: if you know us, you know I have near issued that make reading comprehension a difficult task. A few years ago, Julie came to
visit and gave me Birdie, which was the one to find me the way to read, taking the book to the toilette , no distraction (we have a separate bathroom) Even so, it took me over 18 month to read it, but, by the time Spells & Oregano, the second book from The Secret Spice Cafe, was out, I was able to make more sense of what I was re reading without needing to go back 3 chapters back… I got so wrapped into the story, I was forcing myself to have the strength to get to the toilette to keep reading…and with the unexpected, awesome twist towards the end of the book (used to read a lot of thriller/crime stuff, it takes an amazingly good writer to surprise me like that- but we know Patricia is that writer!) went straight to Amazon to try buy the book, UK site had couple of months wait, so, nothing to do but just that…wait. As it went, Sarita had bought Adam Kay's This is Going to Hurt (another spot of gratefulness to Patricia as Sarita had not even slight interest in reading at all until she read Coking for Ghosts, the first book of The Secret Spice!!!) and she passed it on to me. Then she gave me as a Christmas present tickets to two shows, on of them was the books live, so the wait for this book wasn't too difficult to get through…now finally we got it and I can't wait to get back to them, all the awesome characters in the story …which I know will be fabulous, I couldn't wait and read the Thank You page......even that is a piece of marvelous writing… If you still have not read any of the books, trust me, you should!!!!! This is spectacular! I love your use of color, and the mix of textures you have created. Love the border detail and mixed title work, and your extraction of the book and reading glasses. Loved reading your journaling as well. Amazing page! Congratulations! Your page is a Froggy Favorite!
How very cool getting your names in the book and it sounds like a great read I’m gonna have to try it. What perfect scrapping having the glasses on the book.
