Journaling reads: We drove out to Waukegan to visit friends. We spent the night at Illinois Beach State Park, as the view is always spectacular. It was a glorious sunny, warm morning when we woke at the resort, only to find out that Mother Nature had cruel plans for us. In a matter of minutes, the blue skies turned overcast, the winds started picking up, the temperature dropped and snow began to fall, in October. We made the best of things, we walked around and froze along the lake shore.
