I had to have the dry rot taken care of this summer. and of course it had to be painted... I found most contractors did one or the other and what I had expected to cost around $1500 was in reality going to run $5000 or more! Money I did not have. It was hard to even get an appraisal this summer. So when a friend said her son did repairs, I jumped on it. Big Mistake! He was a one man disaster... Supposedly had 25 years experience... He bought crappy wood, couldn’t cut anything straight, left rough edges on all cuts, did not line anything up, destroyed the Z Bar for joining 2 pieces of siding together, even the window frames were done wrong... The top is supposed to be wider... his helper got paint all over my brand new hose and spray nozzle, and sidewalk! He bragged about all the caulking he did , and after he left, my gardener spent several hours putting caulk all the places he had missed. He tore out my phone lines and knocked things off my kitchen wall, that totally broke and had to be thrown out!
