Journaling reads:
Okay everyone. I’m here baring my soul, releasing pics of me that are better hidden away. But because of a challenge I had no choice but to drag out these horrid school photos and share. (To preface these hairstyles, Mom was convinced that my hair should be permed twice a year, only because her hair was as straight as a board, while mine has tons of body and natural wave.) Grade 4 - Permed beyond belief and as a carry-over from kindergarten, her signature bow appeared clipped to my front pouf. Grade 5 - I must have been in-between perms, my hair looked somewhat decent. Grade 6 - OMG! Sausage roll hair, a teased top, wispy bangs, and a bright green double-knit jacket. Grade 7 - Coming into my own, I was finally taller than my mother and refused to get my hair permed any more. Grade 8 - Retainers helped my teeth, I’m now starting to look like me.

oh you have dug into the hidden away photos...I have to admit I cringed thru mine too...but really thought the fun of art journaling and the muse is to dig into ourselves, even if it is to poke at our awkwardness. I really believe EVERYone has an awkward stage, and your perm and mom's signature bow, oh dear friend, you have barred your very soul.

What awesome journaling! Yes...... I think we all have those photos, my mom convinced me that I would love to have my hair cut really short. Umm No! But I did it because she wanted me too...... Yikes!
I LOVE that you have all the photos hanging from Li Li's Dangles paper. Totally awesome.

This is great, Marilyn!! I loved reading your journaling and the way you used the picture frames and the dangles is wonderful! Yes, by 7th grade, definitely 8th, you were starting to look like Marilyn. Looking at old pictures of ourselves is like "Yikes"! "The signature bow" :giggle
