Description
Soaps in Brazil are hyper high level , the Rede Globo (channel that runs the country LOL) that is their icon in the heart..85% of the whole Brazilian population watches "novelas", and especially the one at 8pm, generally (or at least it was in my times, I think the quality has fallen a lot now) the novelas used to teach people stuff, history and things like Leucemia, cancer treatments or current affairs stuf, but anyway, the thing here is about how much I love them, how Brasil in a whole stops when a soap is coming to an end (we have them for about 6 months, the story has a begining, then they strech and go into many of the characetrs and then there is a climax and the end- Then they bring a completely different one, different actors, different plot)
The one thing Brasil has massively, is the fashion trends that novelas start...and in here am telling of how when this girl, Lidia Brondi, was Solange in this soap called Vale Tudo (Everything goes) started the red hair trend....after 2 month of the soap that saw her with red hair, 50% of the females of Brazil had red hair too, and the hairdressers were mad trying to achieve that shade of red (was awesome) I used to watch entire soaps online, but a few months ago, the Globo tv made an agreement with YouTube, is not allowed to upload globo's novelas now :( there is another place that has escaped their eye,I wont even mention so not jinx it LOL)

TFL! :)
Love the page design with the shaped title work and the little word art bits. Thanks for sharing the details about the novelas. That's amazing about the fashion trends created by them!

Love your page Cynthia! How fun sounds like the Brazilian novelas are more what we call in the US a mini series. Our Soap Operas here in the states go on for YEARS, and sad thing is if you stay away from any for any length of time, and come back to it after even a long absence, you can pick it back up and not even skip a beat! Love how you said the hairdressers were mad trying to attain the same red hair coloring.. funny how TV influences people! Great page, and thanks for the info re how things are down elsewhere. Great cultural education we can all share here in the Pad!! Love PRD's soap Opera elements you used here and the template you made for it is perfection!

I think tele novellas were important everywhere 20-30 years ago, I haven't watched much telly for 15 years now, so no idea where we are standing these days, but we had all the Latin American ones in Russia beginning of 90s, and funny how not just the hair styles but things like baby names had a way of influencing the choice for the TV-watching Mums, I think all Louis-Albertos and Juan-Antonios of Russia were born around that time ;)

this is amazing, Cynthia!! love the collage of photos, I loved to watch telenovelas back them!! love everything here!!
