@dvhoward thanks...I’ve never heard that but I’m not a native. It was a fun little town but I remember how it was severely lacking in trees, almost barren. It looked like the old west.
@Iowan They used to have a big billboard announcing "Welcome to the Palm Springs of Washington" which was located near the lot that stored all the trees that were ready for a mill. It was always a crack up to see it. I guess they finally took it down.
I agree that it's a pretty barren area. When I was a girl it used to be the place to go for shopping because it had a Nordstrom's (long since gone now),
