Thanks for the great template, Tangie, and for sponsoring the challenge, Heather! If you're looking at my layout, I really appreciate it!
JOURNALING:
I’ve always found the icon of “Our Lady of Perpetual Help” to be so beautiful. After I became a mother myself, it took on greater poignancy for me. If you look closely, the child Jesus is running into his mother’s arms for comfort and protection. In the process, he’s lost one of his shoes (it’s dangling from his foot). It’s just so sweet. This icon hangs in the side chapel at church. It normally has flowers on the ledge that people have left. I took this picture on one of the rare occasions when it was bare.
the titling on the photo is just the most perfect font choice (i had to double take whether it was part of the photo, like wall art or signage but i think from the lighting, you typed it on? and like i said, perfectly done!) i love the geometric shape work with this too, looks kind of wrought iron and again perfect and the blue flower is the perfect finishing touch - i think i need to check the thesaurus for another word for 'perfect' but it is entirely fitting here! the overwhelming feeling is understated and respectful and again just perfect!
Oh Margaret, how beautiful your page is!! I love the perspective of the photo you took. Your journaling is so beautiful and heartfelt. You have really taken the template and have truly made it your own! I love the pop of color from the beautiful blue leafed foliage. Just gorgeous! TFS!!
@bellbird Your words made me tear up, Justine. I appreciate them so much! Yes, I did type the title on the photo. I tried a big title on the background paper, but it detracted from the pic. I felt understated was better. Thanks for confirming!
@cfile Thanks, Christa. I’ve always loved that icon and have looked at it almost every week for the last 17 years. This is why I love these challenges. I probably wouldn’t have scrapped it otherwise.
This is beautiful! The photo is lovely and I really like how you took it on an angle rather than straight on - it shows the depth of the carving and adds to the page. Wonderful job! Thanks for playing along with my challenge!
