Your teacher of Geography and History Ma. Rossi with the help of your Docente di Classe
Prof. Rebsamen have organized a special Roman dinner for you. Everybody brought a dish
cooked with the ingredients that were around in those days. We'd searched through a few
books of Antique Roman Cuisine, but we couldn't settle on roast boar, ostrich or elephant
that they called for, edible dormice that we have living in our roof space were also out of
the question and the menu... So we settled for a simple Columella salad, that involved some
fresh salted cheese and a bunch of herbs, some of which (pennyworth) had to be dropped,
as they are known to cause hemorrhage, and in some cases death. We had to dress up for it,
too. Unfortunately you only told me the day of the party, so we had
knocked up simple togas out of sheets, and a red blanket for papa.
The food was actually quite delicious, very different tastes from the
modern meals, but tasty nevertheless. It was nice to meet the new
group of parents, since you've started the middle school we didn't
have a chance to get to meet them except for a few of your friends'
Mums, so that was a lovely opportunity, and they seemed like a nice
bunch. We enjoyed the evening very much, and though originally I
was going to stay at home with your sister, I am glad we all went...
