The town where we used to live, Coraki was flooded on
28th February 2022. The aerial photo must have been taken
a couple of days later when the water was starting to recede.
The grey arrow shows where the water reached in connection
to our evacuation centre circled with white. The white arrow
shows our home. The house photo was taken on 5th march when
there was still too much water and mud for us to get into the
house. Since this event and where we are now settled there has been a couple of times Ken has voiced
that maybe we should never have moved back in 2013 to be closer to our daughter. We had friends who
warned us not to go because of previous floods in that area but before we bought the house we talked
to the locals and they assured us that even in the 1974 big flood no water went into our yard.
So many positive things did happen in our 8 years of living there. Ken was able to make and sell so very
much of his woodwork to raise money for the charity we like to support, Barnabas Fund that helps
the persecuted Christians throughout the world. I really enjoyed my years of working in aged care
and that may not have happened if we had not moved. There were so many people we met and helped.
We had a lot more times with our grandchildren that would not have happened were we used to live.
The experience of the flood helped us downsize ( not a nice way for this to happen but still a positive
outcome -if Ken dies before me I will now, not need to deal with all the machinery he used to own).
We both grew in our faith as we dealt with this event in our lives.
So, yes we were meant to move to Coraki back in 2013.
