Traveling Highway 2 for much of the day, I was reminded of the trips I took with Grandpa Keech on the way to and from Montana to visit Aunt Shirley: Starting out at sunrise; two-lane highways with on-coming traffic; separate speed limits for day and night driving; driving along side trains whose tracks were right next to the road--urging Grandpa to race with the train; very few semis, but when we caught up to one, the driver would toot his air horn if I gave the pump-arm signal; Burma Shave signs; Dairy Queen chocolate-dipped cones.... The one change that makes me sad is the proliferation of windmill farms. What a scar on the landscape and disgrace to America.
