Journaling - Today is an ordinary day. On an ordinary day, I wake up (most days) before anyone else because Cricket likes to wake me up at 6:30, if I'm lucky. On an ordinary day, I give Cricket her medications and then I give her her breakfast before I get dressed. On an ordinary day, when Benjamin has school, my next task is putting his lunch together. His school has free lunches for everyone but he has food issues and most days refuses to go to the cafeteria because of the noise so I pack his lunch. He has few foods he likes to eat so it's breakfast bars, watered down juice, some days crackers or cookies. On an ordinary school day, I put his lunch bag in his backpack at the front door. On an ordinary school day, I usually have to wake up Benjamin. Some days, he sits on my lap until the get-dressed alarm goes off – more often these days he wants to go back to sleep until the alarm goes off. Once up and dressed, on an ordinary school day, Benjamin can play games, read books or watch TV while he eats his breakfast until the time-to-go-to-school alarm goes off. On an ordinary day, he'll put his dishes up (while arguing that a cup isn't a dish – almost daily). On an ordinary day, it's time for socks and shoes before brushing teeth and saying good bye to Daddy (usually still asleep) and Cricket (who may or may not be awake). On an ordinary school day, we walk to school. It's less than five minutes down the street and thru the back gate. On an ordinary school day, we hang out in the schoolyard until the bell walking or cuddling or just talking about the coming day. After we say goodbye, on an ordinary day, I walk home the long way because the back gate is locked at the bell. On an ordinary day, I start the laundry before I do my daily workout. On an ordinary day, I might clean the bathrooms or the kitchen. On an ordinary day, I might scrapbook on my computer unless Todd has meetings for work. On an ordinary day, we'll have lunch together. On an ordinary day, I'll be switching out the laundry and trying to get myself to fold it as it comes out of the drier all the while wishing for the clothes' fairy to finally visit me. On an ordinary school day, I'll leave to pick up Benjamin around 2 p.m., I have to walk around the block because the back gate is locked. On an ordinary school day, he'll run to the gate and I'll check his red folder to see if I need to see his teacher before we leave. On an ordinary day, Benjamin will play games or run around with his trucks at home. On an ordinary day, he has to wait until after dinner to play computer games. On an ordinary day, I'm usually in bed before 9 and know I'll have to do it all again in the morning... unless by some miracle the laundry is done.
