May 2023 - Journaling Challenge - Courage
Journaling - Mom and Dad never had the chance to take the RV trip of their dreams. Life happened. They had us and bills and then he died. Life went on. She still talked about where they had wanted to go.
Mom finally decided it was now or never. She tried the RV thing but it was too hard on her own and her friends decided not to go with her so she sold the RV and bought herself a crossover and head out last fall.
She saw all sorts of weird and wonderful things before ending up in the mountains near the California-Nevada border. She called and asked if she could come visit early because at least 10 days of snow were expected and she didn't want to be caught there over-winter.
Yay! Mom arrived. Benjamin was so excited. We had a great visit and a wonderful Christmas. Shortly after the New Year, she started the drive home (going south to LA and over to avoid any chance of snow). She tried to beat her list of weird and wonderful things on the way home.
She had a great trip home and has a list of things to visit on her next adventure. I hope she hits the road soon and enjoys her retirement as much as she can.
Now, Benjamin just thinks all she has to do is drive over and visit. It's only a few days, right – a few very long days if you don't have things to see or try.
I’m glad she still went and did everything she wanted to. I’m happy she got the chance to visit us again, too. Jan. 2023
