Journaling - The thing I loved about my dorm room in the UK was the view to the park across the street. I liked to walk around the park after classes most days.
Otherwise, it was pretty crappy. The windows didn’t close all the way. The bathrooms were only on every other floor and the showers tended to flood the hallway if more than one person took a shower in the space of an hour.
We had a bar, which made me laugh coming from a “dry” university and county. The pool table was cool and the cafeteria and cleaning ladies were very friendly.
And there were three pay phones in the entire building and only one allowed incoming phone calls. The rooms didn’t have their own phones so my parents had to call the International students’ office and leave a message. (Photos Spring 1998, Journaling Feb. 2021)
