For many years, while living at home with her family, which included 2 or 3 cats and a dog, Melaina protested her disdain for pets. When she moved into her first apartment, and living on her own, she realized that the protest was more a teen-age thing against her mom, rather than actual cats. She found a rescue cat and took her home to love and be loved by. Having a cat seemed to improve the relationship with her mom too. Joey is skittery, still, but is finally warming up to at least her mom, if not her younger siblings. Melaina is still not fond of energetic dogs, but has come to enjoy her parent's Great Pyrnees...a very big, slow-moving dog. But she is still a
Cat Person!
