I really enjoy giving cards to family and friends. Cards are perfect way to send birthday wishes, celebrate a special event, or even to just say hello to someone. I always try to have a selection of homemade cards on hand to give out for any of these occasions. I’ve noticed my supply of cards has been getting a bit low and committed myself to making a few cards to bolster it up. Teacher appreciation is the theme of today’s card. I also am sharing a tip about how to create a dimensional background for your card.Teacher appreciation is right around the corner. I wanted to give something meaningful but also simple to my child's teacher. I thought a card with a book for the classroom library would be perfect. A card about bookworms seemed to match the gift perfectly. To make this card I used the following supplies: I Like Big Books by Kristin Aagard Digital … [Read more...]
Planner Love: Sticker Book
Hi everyone, Sarah here and today I'm going to share with you how I created a sticker book using the May Planner Collection Monthly pack May-Be Today. When I first imported the sticker sheets into my Silhouette Studio software I found that with the default registration marks that some of the the sticker sheets from the collection extended past the cross hatches. I know that some people have reported that this still works fine for them as long as the images aren't touching the registration marks themselves, but for me if I were to try to print and cut this image as it, I would either end up with the Silhouette failing to read the registration marks or with cuts that are up to 1/8" off.I recently found out that there's a way to fit more images on a page by changing the size of the registration marks. The default settings for the length of the registration marks are … [Read more...]
St. Patrick’s Day Preschool Activity
Happy St. Patrick's day! Holidays are a great time to introduce an enrichment activity to a child. They think they are playing a game and you are getting them to learn or review a skill. I’ve still got a few little kids that don’t go to school yet. My little kids who don't go to school yet want to do some “schoolwork” just like their siblings do. I don’t want to disappoint them, so I do some preschool learning activities with them. Sometimes though, I go overboard with those activities and spend way too much time on them. Today I want to show a quick worksheet I put together for my preschooler that took little time but she found engaging. I chose to work with Luck of the Irish by Kate Hadfield. I knew that Kate's doodles in her St. Patrick's kit would capture my preschoolers attention. In Photoshop I created the layout for my worksheet as seen below. Total time to create was … [Read more...]

Blending Colored Pencils with Gamsol
Hi Happy Scrappers!Polly Liana here, with a fun tutorial about how to blend colored pencils with an odorless mineral spirit called "Gamsol." Along with digiscrapping, I also enjoy making cards with rubber stamps. Although I enjoy coloring my own cards, I was never able to get the colored pencils to blend properly. I love watercolor pencils but I couldn't use them unless my image was produced with waterproof ink, otherwise the water would make it bleed.Enter Gamsol and Prismacolor pencils. Turns out, there are lots of neat tutorials out there about how to use this spirit to blend colored pencils smoothly and easily. Intrigued? Here's what you need:Paper medium (I use A4 size lux white cards from Paper Source):Prismacolor pencils (I've found Crayola pencils don't blend properly). They're expensive but I got mine for a great price from AC Moore during a sale:Gamsol … [Read more...]
DIY Inserts for Travelers Notebooks
Hi all, Sarah here with another fun planner project. This month I decided to take the Planner Collection Monthly: Love Letters products and create some fun seasonal inserts for my travelers notebook.I began by creating an 8"x8" canvas in my scrapping software to create the covers of each notebook. For this first one I took one of the personal size planner pages from the main kit and and placed it on the right half of the canvas, making sure the edge lined up with the center and that the tab was outside of my canvas. I then picked a paper from the Love Letters Patterns and Backgrounds by Allison Pennington to place on the left side of the canvas. I printed this onto an 8.5"x11" sheet of cardstock and trimmed to size. I chose to include a grid paper inside this notebook insert which I colored pink to match the collection. I used ten sheets, printed double sided, also trimmed … [Read more...]
Document Your December: List Style
Today I am going to share with you a new to me approach to Document Your December.December is a busy month and while it is important to me to document all of the memories, I don't always have time to be super creative. I have learned, after a few years of incomplete DYD projects (insert sad face), that simplicity is what works for me. This year, I am following a simplified approach to the Document Your December concept by using lists. I am a note taker and a list maker at heart. If it weren't for keeping lists I wouldn't be able to remember all of the things that need to be done in my daily life. Earlier this year I found a community of listers. Yes! I am not alone. There are others that "love to list" as much, if not more, than myself. I have been "creatively listing" everything from the grocery list to wish lists ever since. Fast forward to June, when I was introduced … [Read more...]

Create a Card: Personalizing Cards
I really enjoy giving cards to family and friends. Cards are perfect way to send birthday wishes, celebrate a special event, or even to just say hello to someone. I always try to have a selection of homemade cards on hand to give out for any of these occasions. I’ve noticed my supply of cards has been getting a bit low and committed myself to making a few cards to bolster it up. Back to School is the theme of today’s card. I also am sharing a tip about how to personalize mass produced cards.Mass producing greeting cards is helpful when you need multiples of the same type of card. This year I decided to mass produce the cards that I give to my children and their teachers on the first day of school. But a bit of mommy guilt crept in and I decided that I “needed” to make each card special. Here is how I did it.To make the cards I used the following supplies: My Tribe | … [Read more...]
