Everybody knows that Pocket Pages, inspired by Becky Higgins' Project Life, are all the rage right now. And they are not going anywhere! The concept has been around for a while but it took me, personally, a couple of years to jump on board the bandwagon. My personal story involves completing P365 (a photo a day) in 2010 and it was a fantastically documented year for us! Then I sort of wimped out after that with regards to organized projects and continued scrapping whatever struck my fancy (which, by the way, is totally cool). Last year, I dabbled in the Pocket Pages, doing a 2 page spread a month, but I still havn't completed the year because it is very difficult for me to summarize most of our months in 2 pages and still manage to get any "story" documented. Not to mention, streamlining the photos. I took forever just figuring out what to include! So this year, I decided it was … [Read more...]

Pocket Page Workflow
I live for my scrapping time. I love getting my hands messy with my physical supplies or staying "clean" and creating something in Photoshop . I get a jolt of joy each time I see a layout come together. When I first started pocket scrapping last year I assumed the process would be the same...full of joy. Yeah, it wasn't that joyful at first. I struggled with finding a pocket page workflow that worked for me. I could have gave up then, but I didn't. Soon after starting pocket pages I recognized the importance of capturing our everyday life. Back in February my two year old, who is behind on her speech, was pouring over the two measly pocket pages I had finished. I watched her to start pointing at pictures on the page and try to say our family members names. Towards the bottom of the page she came to a picture of her younger sister. She scrunched up her eyebrows and for the … [Read more...]
Hidden Journaling Cards
Happy Wednesday! Polly Shannon here with a quick and easy tutorial about making your own hidden journaling cards for Project Life. My Project Life is all hybrid/paper and I love the fact that I can keep thoughts hidden but still able to be found. What I love even more is how easy these cards are to make!Start by printing what will br the front of your journaling card. Be sure to leave 3" (if you're doing a 3x4 card) of white space to the left of the card so that the card can folded. [if you're like me and don't like to waste paper you'll likely have other items on this paper as well]Next you're going to cut out the card. You'll notice in my photo that I'm making it just under 6" long. This is because the pockets in the page protectors are just under 3" wide and I want my card to fit once it's folded. Then you're simply going to fold the card in half. I like a bone folder to get … [Read more...]
Project Life Collage Cards
Hi everyone! Polly Shannon here with a tip to help you fit more pictures on your Project Life spread. Some weeks I find myself wanting to include more photos, but not wanting to do an insert. Enter photo collages. You can fit multiple photos onto a 4x6 print, and it also adds some visual interest. It's also a nice way to group many photos from a specific event close together. Check out the two different collages that I included in my week 6 spread. In the top photo you can see my collage in the bottom left corner. I love some white space so I incorporated it here, and added a little title. In the bottom photo my collage is in the bottom right corner. I went a little different with this one, clipping paper in one of the photo spots.I know that collages will be making regular appearances in my Project Life this year. The best part is that the designers at TLP have our back, as … [Read more...]
