Organize Your Pad: Calendar Planning
This year I set a personal goal to get organized. One thing that was a real mess was our family calendar. Keeping up with a busy schedule for a family of five can be a daunting task. Jotting notes on the dry erase board or the nearest scrap of paper were no longer working. I decided to turn to my digital and hybrid skills to create a planner that was practical, but also pretty. Having a weekly calendar that fit my current style kept me interested in using the planner all year long. I take my planner everywhere and update it often. This small step in organization has been such a great tool. Are you a planner? Do you enjoy giving calendars as gifts? This year is quickly coming to an end and with the new year arriving soon it is time to think about planning ahead. Let's talk calendars! There are so many amazing products available in the store to help you customize your … [Read more...]
Organize Your Pad: My Photo Organization
Recently there was a discussion in The Lilypad forum about Photo Organization. This is a common topic and everyone finds their own system. I got some questions about mine so thought I'd share it here.First of all, I am not a super neat person. My husband claims that I am the most "disorganized organized" person he knows. I have piles and piles of "stuff" but can always manage to put my hands on anything that is needed. It is a touch of chaos and that's just how I roll. My hard drive, on the other hand, is truly a work of art, hehe. It makes me twitchy when things are not where they belong. And again, the peanut gallery named my husband comments on that as well, saying "it seems all you do is move stuff around on your computer". HA. Well yes, I do that alot. But it makes me happy to have a small sliver of life that is completely within my control. With a demanding "real" … [Read more...]

Organize Your Pad: Fonts
Welcome to the March Edition of Organize Your Pad. This month, we've been discussing Fonts a bit in the forum and I've discovered a couple of interesting things. First of all, there are many of you that are just as addicted to Fonts and Font Collecting as I am. Second, there are many of you who are just as unorganized in your storage/use of them as I am, hehe...And that's OK! Today, I'm gonna share a bit about the organization options out there for your fonts, but also do a little enabling with some favorite fonts, both free and for sale.I have about a Gazillion and one fonts and, honestly, I probably only use about 25% of them regularly. So, why do I keep them all on my hard drive just to slow down my PS/PSE? Good question. Really, what I should be doing it storing them in a good Font Manager and only pulling in the ones I need for my pages. Right? Right. So, what font … [Read more...]
Organize Your Pad: February ’14
It's time to Organize Again! Last month we talked about Tagging... and this month let's see discuss Folders. The question was posed in the forum and the masses responded :). How do you organize your digital supplies on your hard drive? How do you use FOLDERS to help you? Is your Desktop full? Do things stay in your Downloads too long? Do you organize by Designer? Site? Type of element? And here's how the awesome Lilypad Community responded. I love seeing the different approaches to organization. It makes me motivated to get myself together a little differently or a little more.VickyD:"I have my supplies in folders by store, then designer, then by kit/paper/alpha etc name. I have a separate folder for BYOC in my TLP folder, at the end of the month the items get moved into the respective designers folder ready for the next months BYOC. I also now have a Project Life folder. … [Read more...]
