September Challenges

Hello everyone!  It’s Polly Karen back again with a look at our new batch of monthly challenges for September.  Each month we have 8 brand new challenges that are posted in the forum Challenge Pad on the 1st day of the month. (the BYOC Challenge is posted on the 1st Friday of the month.)  You can use the challenges simply to inspire you to keep creating new layouts OR you can also earn yourself a fabulous coupon for your next shopping trip in the Lilypad Store.  (2 challenges = 10%, 4 challenges = 20% and 6 challenges = 30%).  Those who complete at least 7 challenges will be entered in a drawing for a $50 gift certificate!  Isn’t that an awesome prize?!?!  You’ll get lots of great memories captured in your scrapbooks AND you could win a fat gift certificate prize!!!  Pretty great, right?!  So let’s take a look at this month’s new batch of challenges!

1.  Journaling Challenge – The first challenge in the line up for September is the Journaling Challenge hosted by Lori (lcpereyra).  Lori is challenging you to create a layout that includes journaling about something unexpected.  You must have at least 5 sentences of journaling and must include the word “unexpected” in your journaling.   Here’s a great sample layout that Lori created:

2.  Random Challenge – Next up is the Random Challenge hosted by Jenn (jk703).  Jenn is taking the Random part literally!  She wants you to use either a “topic wheel” or a “random object wheel” spinner to pick what your layout will be about!  How fun is that?  Jenn chose the random object spinner and got the item “kitchen knife” for her object.  I love the page she created from this jumping off point!

3.  Style Challenge – The Style Challenge for September is being hosted by Kayla (keepscrappin) and she would like you to created a banded style layout.  Your “band” can be either vertical or horizontal.  Here’s  a gorgeous example of a banded layout that Kayla created to get you started:

4.  Photography Challenge – Ashley (ashleywb) is hosting this month’s Photography Challenge and she would like you to create a layout that features at least one action photo.   Here’s a great sample layout with some soccer action that Ashley created:

5.  Inspiration Challenge – The Inspiration Challenge for this month is being hosted by Monica (umyesh) and she’d like you to explore your five senses for this month’s challenge.  You can do a layout about all the senses or just pick one to focus on and create a layout about.  Monica’s layout focuses on touch and taste:

6.  Scraplift Challenge – Courtney (bestcee) is hosting the Scraplift Challenge for this month and she would like you to pick one of the Pride of the Pad winners from 2024 to scraplift this month.  Simply find a layout you love from one of the Pride of the Pad threads in the Scrapping Pad in the forum, then create a layout inspired by it.  Here is a look at a layout that Courtney picked, followed by her scraplifted version:

7.  Template Challenge – The Template Challenge for August is being hosted by Christa (cfile).  All you have to do to play along is download the free template made by Scrapping with Liz and then create a layout using that fun template.  Here’s a look at the free template followed by a sample layout that Christa made using it:

8.  BYOC Challenge – Finally we have the BYOC Challenge.  This challenge will be hosted and posted by Heather (HeatherB) on Friday, Setptember 6th, when the BYOC Collection for September will be released in the store.  The challenge will be to use 90% of the products on your page from this month’s BYOC collection and from at least 3 designers.

There is your quick peek at this month’s brand new batch of challenges.  Once you create your own layouts inspired by these challenges, be sure to post them to the appropriate galleries as listed above.  Then be sure to also post them to the appropriate thread in the challenge forum.  See the thread HERE for further challenge guidelines and see the September Challenge Pad HERE to get started!  Don’t forget to post all of your completed layouts in the Challenge Layouts thread so we can be sure to get you the proper coupon at the end of the month.  I’ll be back near the end of the month to shine my spotlight on some of the pages created for these challenges!  I can’t wait to see what you come up with!  Happy scrapping!
