Hello everyone! It’s Polly Karen back again with a look at our new batch of monthly challenges for October. Each month we have 8 brand new challenges that are posted in the forum Challenge Pad on the 1st day of the month. (the BYOC Challenge is posted on the 1st Friday of the month.) You can use the challenges simply to inspire you to keep creating new layouts OR you can also earn yourself a fabulous coupon for your next shopping trip in the Lilypad Store. (2 challenges = 10%, 4 challenges = 20% and 6 challenges = 30%). Those who complete at least 7 challenges will be entered in a drawing for a $50 gift certificate! Isn’t that an awesome prize?!?! You’ll get lots of great memories captured in your scrapbooks AND you could win a fat gift certificate prize!!! Pretty great, right?! So let’s take a look at this month’s new batch of challenges!
1. Random Challenge – The first challenge up for October is the Random Challenge hosted by Courtney (bestcee). Courtney is calling this the treat challenge. She’s giving you the word prompt “Favorite Treat” and wants to you to pick a favorite treat and then use those letters to determine what you’ll be adding to your layout. Here is the list of items to add based on your word, followed by a layout created by Courtney:
2. Style Challenge – The next challenge for this month is the Style Challenge hosted by Lori (lcpereyra). Lori is challenging you to create a layout and use oversized/large/BIG numbers on your layout. Here’s a great sample layout that Lori created:

4. Inspiration Challenge – The Inspiration Challenge for this month is hosted by Kayla (keepscrappin) and she is challenging you to create a layout inspired by a photo of a carved jack-o-lantern. Simply pick three elements of the photo that inspire you and add them to your own layout. Here’s the photo for inspiration followed by Kayla’s layout (that uses a cut out face, triangle shapes and varying orange tones):
5. Scraplift Challenge – The next challenge for this month is the Scraplift Challenge hosted by Ashley (ashleywb). Ashely chose a fun twist for this month’s Scraplift Challenge. She is challenging you to find a layout in one of our top five contributors in the gallery and then create a scraplifted version of your own layout inspired by theirs. The top five contributors of all time in our Lilypad Gallery are: cfile, MrsPeel, EllenT, zinzilah and mcurtt. Here is a layout that Christa picked from Ellen’s gallery, followed by her scraplifted version:
6. Heather chose to scrap about National Apple Month on this fabulous layout:

Challenge Galleries: (post your pages to these galleries)
There is your peek at this month’s brand new batch of challenges. Once you create your own layouts inspired by these challenges, be sure to post them to the appropriate galleries as listed above. Then be sure to also post them to the appropriate thread in the challenge forum. See the thread HERE for further challenge guidelines and see the October Challenge Pad HERE to get started!
