Hello everyone! It’s Polly Karen back again to give you a quick overview of all the new challenges for May. Each month we have 8 brand new challenges that are posted in the forum Challenge Pad on the 1st day of the month. (the BYOC Challenge is posted on the 1st Friday of the month.) You can use the challenges simply to inspire you to keep creating new layouts OR you can also earn yourself a fabulous coupon for your next shopping trip in the Lilypad Store. (2 challenges = 10%, 4 challenges = 20% and 6 challenges = 30%). Those who complete at least 7 challenges will be entered in a drawing for a $50 gift certificate! Isn’t that an awesome prize?!?! You’ll get lots of great memories captured in your scrapbooks AND you could win a fat gift certificate prize!!! Pretty great, right?! So let’s take a look at this month’s new batch of challenges!
1. Scraplift Challenge – The first challenge for the month of May is the scraplift challenge and is being hosted by Christa (cfile). Christa has selected our TWO guest Pollys for the months of April and May for you to scraplift. Your challenge is to pick just one layout in either Kari’s (DotcomKari) or Jan’s (QuiltyMom) gallery and then create your own scraplifted version. Here is a layout that Christa chose followed by her scraplifted version:
2. Template Challenge – Next up is the Template Challenge hosted by Heather (HeatherB). The challenge is to use the free template supplied by Valeria of Little Butterfly Wings and create a layout using it. Here’s a look at the free template followed by a sample that Heather created using it:
3. Random Challenge – The Random Challenge for this month is hosted by Courtney (bestcee) and she is challenge you to make a layout about “10 things”. You can finish the sentence “10 things ____”. She was inspired by her favorite movie 10 Things I Hate About You and she used that to create a page title “10 thing about me right now”:
4. Journaling Challenge – The Journaling Challenge for May is hosted by our Guest Polly Kari (dotcomkari). Since Mother’s Day occurs in May here in America, she is using that as inspiration to write a letter to a special lady in your life OTHER than your Mother. You letter must be at least 400 words long too! Here is a great sample layout that Kari created:
5. Style Challenge – Ashley (ashleywb) is hosting this month’s Style Challenge. Ashley wants you to create a layout that uses a grid style. It can contain any kind of grid with intersecting lines. Here’s a fabulous grid of photos on a layout that Ashley created:
6. Inspiration Challenge – The Inspiration Challenge for May is hosted by Lori (lcpereyra). Lori would like you to create a layout about something that is inspiring you right now and include why that subject is inspiring you. Here’s a cool page Lori created about her playlist and why they inspire her right now:
7. Photography Challenge – Jenn (jenn mccabe) is hosting this month’s photography challenge and she would like you to focus your photography skills onto capturing white space in your photo. Your main subject matter should only take up 1/3 of your photo and the rest of the space should be white space. Jenn would also like to challenge you to do some journaling or add a quote on top of your photo in that white space. Jenn created this gorgeous sample layout:
8. BYOC Challenge – Finally we have the BYOC Challenge. This challenge will be hosted and posted by Natasha (bcnatty) on Friday, May 7th when the BYOC Collection for May will be released in the store. The challenge will be to use 90% of the products on your page from this month’s BYOC collection and from at least 3 designers.
