May Challenges
Hello everyone! It’s Polly Karen back again with a look at our new batch of monthly challenges for May. Each month we have 8 brand new challenges that are posted in the forum Challenge Pad on the 1st day of the month. (the BYOC Challenge is posted on the 1st Friday of the month.) You can use the challenges simply to inspire you to keep creating new layouts OR you can also earn yourself a fabulous coupon for your next shopping trip in the Lilypad Store. (2 challenges = 10%, 4 challenges = 20% and 6 challenges = 30%). Those who complete at least 7 challenges will be entered in a drawing for a $50 gift certificate! Isn’t that an awesome prize?!?! You’ll get lots of great memories captured in your scrapbooks AND you could win a fat gift certificate prize!!! Pretty great, right?! So let’s take a look at this month’s new batch of challenges!
1. Template Challenge – The first challenge up for May is the Template Challenge hosted by Christa (cfile). The challenge is to use the free template supplied by Becca Bonneville and create a layout using it. Here’s a look at the free template followed by a sample that Christa created using it:
2. Inspiration Challenge – The Inspiration Challenge for the month of May is being hosted by Ashley (ashleywb) and she is challenging you to draw inspiration from a great mood board that she created. Here’s a look at the mood board, follo
3. Random Challenge – The next challenge is the Random Challenge hosted by Stefanie (Eyeore). Stefanie is giving you a choice in the Random Challenge, which she’s calling Either/Or. You must choose to create Either a layout with a neutral colour palette with at least 5 papers, OR a layout that uses an eye catching floral paper. Here are both of Stefanie’s sample layouts:

4. Photography Challenge – The Photography Challenge for this month is being hosted by Natasha (bcnatty). Natasha would like you to take some sort of action photo and then incorporate that into a layout. Here’s a great photo photo on Natasha’s layout:
5. Scraplift Challenge – The next challenge for this month is the Scraplift Challenge hosted by Cynthia (MrsPeel). Cynthia chose the gallery of our Polly Carol (Iowan) for you to scraplift from this month. Simply pick one layout from Carol’s (Iowan) Gallery and then create your own scraplifted version. Here is a layout that Cynthia picked followed by her scraplifted version:
6. Style Challenge – The Style Challenge for May is hosted by Lori (lcpereyra) and she wants you to embrace all things colorful and create a layout that use bright colors. Here’s a fabulously colorful layout that Lori created as inspiration:
7. Journaling Challenge – Heather (HeatherB) is hosting the Journaling Challenge for this month and she’s like you to create a layout with some journaling inside a shape (other than a square or rectangle). Heather linked up a bunch of great tutorials on how to create journaling inside of a fun shape in the forum thread. Here’s a great sample layout that Heather created too:
8. BYOC Challenge – Finally we have the BYOC Challenge. This challenge will be hosted and posted by Courtney (bestcee) on Friday, May 6th, when the BYOC Collection for May will be released in the store. The challenge will be to use 90% of the products on your page from this month’s BYOC collection and from at least 3 designers.

There is your peek at this month’s brand new batch of challenges. Once you create your own layouts inspired by these challenges, be sure to post them to the appropriate galleries as listed above.
