It’s time for another edition of The Hybrid Variety Show. This month we are going to show you some gorgeous creations using doilies. You might have noticed the doily trend and if you are a fan of doilies, as I am, you will really appreciate the current Trend Watch. Guess what? It’s doilies! You can snag a plethora of doilies while they are sale! Once you see what we’ve done with doilies we hope you will be inspired to create something too!
Sarah created this precious mini album using doilies as the base for her pages. How creative is that? It is an adorable keepsake for sure.
Here is what Sarah had to say about her project:
When I first heard that doilies were the topic of this post I knew right away I wanted to create a mini album out of doilies. I landed on Down the Lane Ephemera by Sahlin Studio and immediately knew that this would be great base for my mini album. The doily in the kit cut out beautifully on my Silhouette, and I just loved that there were so many pieces in the kit that were perfect for print and cut. To create my album I cut three doilies out and then folded them in half and placed staples at either end to hold the pages in place. I then went on the search for other papers and embellishments to finish out my album. Since I knew it was going to be a baby album of my daughters first month, I specifically searched for soft colors and an Easter kit since she was born just before Easter. I chose three other kits: Eclectic Easter by Just Jaimee; Free Spirit by Laurie Ann and Krystal Hartley; Sprinkles v.21 by Valorie Wibbens to compliment the original embellishment pack. I love how well everything seemed to work together with the light colors and soft feel. I really love how this album turned out and am so glad I stretched myself to try something new.
In preparation of my daughter’s upcoming seventh birthday, I went a little crazy over doilies and managed to create a few different projects that I am excited to share with you. First up is a banner that I created using a doily from Doily Shapes 2 by Just Jaimee.
I also created these cone shaped treat holders with a doily from Doily Shapes 2 by Just Jaimee.
Next, I created these fun bag toppers using doilies from Chasing the Sun by Amy Wolff.
Finally, I created this canvas using a doily from Chasing the Sun by Amy Wolff as a stencil. I applied different colors of paint over the doily stencil to create the doily collage background. Then I cut and glued pieces from the Boho Bliss collab from Lynne-Marie and Pink Reptile Designs for the finishing touches.
That wraps up this episode of The Hybrid Variety Show! Don’t forget to check out the Doily Trendwatch Challenge and use our doily display as inspiration. If you play, you could win $5 to spend at your favorite trendy shop – The Lilypad. Good Luck!
