It’s Katrina, aka katrinahunt13 sharing some hybrid Easter cards here on the blog today. I am going to be truthful, I was going to do some fun little treat bag toppers, but then I thought of the candy I would need to by (meaning need to eat after bringing it home) and decided to do cards instead!
I started a topic over in the Scrapping Pad in the forum asking if people gravitated toward different designers. It turned into quite a discussion, so I decided that it would be good for me to step out of my box that I talked about and try a few different things! I choose four designers from the store that had some fun Easter products that I did a search for under the holiday category. Amy Wolff, Bella Gypsy Designs, Allison Pennington and Just Jaimee. Just Jaimee is the only one that I am usually drawn too, even though I do like the others, they aren’t my go to style. BUT the Just Jaimee that I picked out, is totally NOT her regular style, so it fits in with the blog post!
First up are the two cards that I used Amy Wolff’s Cottontail (Papers/Elements) and Bella Gypsy Designs Bunny Trail. Bunny Trail is similar to colors I like, although more pastel than I normally do. Cottontail is not anywhere near my style, except maybe for a fall type of project. Very vintage and subdued.
And then close ups of each card!
The hop tape strips in the Bunny Trail kit were perfect for little accents at the top and bottom of the center piece.
I just punched some strips, misted a paper doily for a vintage feel and assembled my card. I did use the print and cut feature on all the elements of all the cards seen.
Now for Easter Cards Take Two. As I mentioned, I usually gravitate toward Just Jaimee anything, but Eclectic Easter isn’t something that would catch my eye. Allison’s kit, Little Bunny is non traditional Easter colors, which I love. Note, these were all created with my Epson 830 printer, not my wide format. So, if you have a printer, you can create your own fun cards also!
There weren’t a lot of elements that I chose to use out of Allison’s kit, but her bold use of color (which she does WELL!) made it easy to make a simpler cardand not overwhelm the design. But I had to use that black floral bunny!
Just Jaimee’s Eclectic Bunny kit is so NOT something I would usually go for at all and it’s totally different than her normal style. So, it was perfect to include in my post. I will admit, I had a little trouble at first with starting, but that’s probably because I haven’t scrapped for a little while and just needed to get started!
So, you still have time to make some quick hybrid Easter cards if you want! You can get the kids involved and have fun creating together. It may also make you step out of your box a little!! Have a great week!
