I wondered if anyone else has had this issue. In Windows 7, you could download a codec to show the thumbnail image of your PSD files. I can't figure this out in Windows 10. Is there a way that anyone knows of?

i bought a software to show psd, etcc
Which one? I have Lightroom, PS, Bridge and am trying ACDSee 20. None of them show the actual image though, just a blue icon.

I don't know if this is what Cath isusing, but I am using Argus from Tumasoft and it shows .psd files in Windows as well as all Photoshop presets. It's an awesome piece of software for very little money.

I don't have PSD files anymore for this reason. I only download TIFF when I get a template, and I save all my pages as TIFF, too.

Hope you find a solution!

@enjoyyourpix I had already mentioned this in her thread, but I think @jk703 was slightly overwhelmed at the time, :-)
I was, still am, but I will be looking into it! :clap It's in my notes on what to look for/at after my headache of a transfer! Sounds like a great tool I'll need!

You can't see PSD file previews in Lightroom?

That's how I view all my layout PSDs.
Yes, but I don't import scrap supplies into lightroom. It gets really bogged down with photos so I use it primarily for edits, then I push the image to PSCC for a final edit where I have my open layout working when scrapping.

But I mainly want to see them when I am looking in the folders. So the link I posted sorta does that, well it does, but it changes the extension of them to do it. In Windows 7, there was a simple codec that showed the thumbnail without changing anything other than what the image looked like displayed in the folders. I think Adobe should come up with that option for us. Like PDF files have a "save thumbnail" options. PSD's should too.

I am about to try ACDSee 20 tho and see if I like it better than bridge.

It is not viewable that way.. hasn't been since windows 7 so you are correct. If you wish to view PSD's you can still browse them through Bridge. File > Browse in Bridge .. try that. Hope that helps. I too am mad that you don't automatically see your PSD files unless you browse in Bridge.

Gotcha! I was like, wait, LR does show PSD thumbnails! LOL

I would love is PSDs had thumbnail viewing . . . totally agree with you on that.

I use ACDSee for my digital supplies and I love it. I can browse and open a preview with ACDSee when I'm in File Explorer, but the entire folder of thumbnails isn't there so unless I try to preview a close up, I won't know what the item is. Let me know if you find out a way to do it, though!

love the idea of this software i tried a free one and my computer didn't like it.
