I would be interested to find out which browser most of us use. If you wish to, you can add a post to the thread to state why you use the one that you do.
You forgot us Apple users. I use Safari. So far, it has worked for everything since I got my new computer last month. Prior to that, however, my old 2011 iMac Safari struggled to run Netflix and Smugmug and I started using Chrome more and more. Those are both working on my new computer in Safari though. Yay!
Sorry Michele, I have now added Safari to the poll. I was not aware that Apple uses something different. Thankyou for your response.
No problem! I didn't mind being an Other. I was just surprised. I'm curious now too . . . How many Apple users stick with the Apple browser, Safari, and how many use something else?
I use a private web browser - Duck Duck Go - it's not totally a VPN, but supposedly, it's not trackable.
I started having issues with Chrome last month on one of my financial websites after using it for as long as I can remember. It wouldn't even load the website. Firefox wasn't any better so I decided to try Edge and I have no problems with that website with Edge. There is one website that freezes on me but I'm positive it is because of the ad blocker add-on that I use and the other add-on that stops videos from playing automatically. That website has lots of ads and a video that wants to play every time you go to the page. No matter what browser I use, the website freezes so that is a website issue not a browser issue. I avoid that website these days.
I use Chrome. It's partly because I like using the same browser across all my devices (so that it remembers my bookmarks and history), partly because I like the add-ons that are available, and partly because certain websites for my children's schools require it. I use Privacy Badger, which assesses a lot of things on each website and turns off anything that is probably tracking you. I think that's why Chrome starts up so slowly on my laptop, but I'm not willing to give up the privacy for faster performance. I also use The Great Suspender, which puts unused tabs to sleep. For someone like me who opens sooo many tabs when I'm shopping or lesson planning, it really helps me not take as big a performance hit when I have sixty bajillion tabs open.
I used to be a die-hard Firefox user, but switched to Chrome a few years ago after Firefox started giving me more and more issues. I use it on my iPhone as well.
I'm a Chrome users. I love that I can use it at work and at home and it remembers all my bookmarks and passwords and stuff. On my phone I use Safari, but I'd rather use a computer for web searching stuff mostly.
This. I do occasionally revert to Internet Explorer on certain websites ... I'm still using WIN 7 on my work and home desktops. I have a laptop with WIN 10, am not a fan of Edge, so I use Chrome on it too.
Which browser do you use for DDG? My understanding is it's not stand alone? I thought it was just a search engine I have to look into this! Thanks for sharing!
Edge and chrome. And a really stupid useless one on the kindle, that is default, and you can not remove.
I bounce back and forth between Chrome and Firefox. I was using Chrome, but then some sites wouldn't work, so I went to Firefox. Now, I'm having issues there, especially with school sites. So now, I'm back to Chrome. When I'm doing website developing stuff for school, I prefer Chrome.
You can make it your default browser. I use Chrome to get on the internet, but browse with DDG. We use it on our phones, too. It is a stand alone on the phone.
