Which is it?

I call it stuffing even though it is not stuffed inside the turkey. Nor does it go on top. It's served on the side and made in a totally separate dish. Yup, language is weird.

I hated stuffing growing up. Actually I hated all Thanksgiving food. Then I learned to make it myself and, well, I'm a better cook. So... I love Thanksgiving now. I make amazing stuffing. It's not soggy. Just delicious.

let me check the box..bhahahha

we eat stuffing, but only this stuff, preferring the extra non fresh items, a glob of butter and letting steam and a fork do the work!

Ours is both depending on the side of family........ My mom's is my favorite! I still remember a couple days before she would have us all in the kitchen cutting up the bread into squares to dry out. Then lots of butter with onion & celery and SAUSAGE! YUM! I do mine the same way except for 1/4 of the bread cubes don't get sausage as my husband does not like the sausage.

It's dressing here and served as a side dish. I believe Carrie mentioned above the difference in the two that is my understanding. Stuffing is "stuffed" inside the turkey and cooked, while dressing is more of a side dish.
The dressing that our family uses is my all time favorite. I love to freeze some of it (as if there are any leftovers... HA!) to eat later in the year. It has a cornbread base.

Now after reading all this... I'd like to eat some stuffing. lol!

Our friend makes a rice dressing. It's one of his grandma's recipes. It has rice and sausage and some other herbs and spices. It is so yummy and a much better choice for me since I don't like soggy/mushy bread. It's my fave.

We call it stuffing here as well, but I have heard it called dressing as well, just not as commonly used here. I can't stand the stuff, so either way doesn't matter to me! :)

I can't get past thinking of dressing as the stuff you put on salad so I call it stuffing and it's my favorite part, too (besides craaaaaannnbeerrrrryyyy). My grandma called it dressing.
Trader Joe's has these potato chips that taste like stuffing/dressing and I bought them, having high hopes. Turns out, after you eat one, the rest just taste like regular old chips. Oh well.

We use both... stuffing if it's cooked inside the bird, dressing if it's cooked outside of it. I have a great sourdough stuffing/dressing recipe but I haven't made it in years. We buy pre made, frozen dressing from a local restaurant here in Chicago, so we travel the day before Thanksgiving and have no time for prep (or room to bring all of the ingredients for an entire Thanksgiving dinner with us).

I almost bought those when I was at TJ's on Wednesday! Good to know that I'm not really missing out!

We call it stuffing. We stuff it in the turkey here and around the turkey so that is what we have always called it.

It's stuffing for us, although I have to admit I don't like it. (*Hangs head in Thanksgiving shame*)

What?!?!?! That is all my daughter wants to eat on Thanksgiving. But ours is pretty basic. Like very basic. No chunks of anything. We call it either stuffing or dressing. We puree onions and celery to avoid chunkage and go from there. Basically just yummy moist bread. LOL.

One year, we were having a huge crowd for dinner. I was making a 6-times batch of stuffing, but then I screwed up my math and put too much liquid. Hubby had to run to the store to get a couple more packages of cubed bread. It was such a huge batch by then, I literally had to put it all in a clean kitchen garbage bag to toss/mix it. Of course we didn't tell anyone that. LOL.

Yesssssssss. This is the brand that is safe for my daughter (most flavors), if we make it with her fake butter. I can eat the whole box. Lol!

It is also fantastic (in my opinion) on top of pork chops (seared... baked on top of apple pie filling)

I use this on top of pork chops also. It's easy and tasty!

ROFL! Considering how fast it goes every year, I may want to do this. hahaha
