summer is winding down- things are getting more hectic. I'm sitting here with connor & my friends kiddo-- just took them to the literacy center to get their last book for summer reading (ugh. have i complained enough about the ridiculous amount of summer work they have for going into 3rd grade :p PFFT). everything is almost complete though hoorah! they both have like 2 or 3 assignments left and they are finished. good job kiddos. *round of applause*

however at this moment.. connor is feigning death and she is asking 100 questions a minute. ready for school to start :p

Things are more hectic here, too. I feel more on top of it than last year. I guess after 6 years I'm starting to figure "Back to School" out? Sad testament to my learning curve.

I just ordered school clothes online last week, I've never had that done this early! Still have some school supplies to pick up but nothing major - I got all the heavy hitters when they were on sale. But starting next week it's going to be chaos because he goes into Middle School this year so we have orientation meetings for school and extracurriculars starting. So it'll be a lot of time, and a lot of random amounts of money to dole out and keep track of.

Nicholas hasn't started to get spazzy yet, we have three more weeks until school starts.

Very hectic around here too. School time gets wayyy more crazy for us with homeschooling - and we started up yesterday. We officially start the 23rd, but the kiddos were dying to start, so we are starting in slowly with a few lessons a day. It makes it harder on me though because then I have to get up early to work a couple hours before the kiddos get up, and then work at night when I would normally be relaxing. So scrapping time is going to be hard to come by. I really need to bite the bullet and get that laptop that I've been wanting - then I can take it along and scrap while I'm sitting waiting while the boys are in taekwondo for a few hours a week and the girls are in dance. That will give me some good scrap time!

The kids are completely insane today and I actually put the 9 and 8 year olds down for naps.

that's just about it. kids.

Yesterday was a rough day here. The kids have pretty much reached their togetherness limit for the summer. :p This morning I got up early and took DD to the park before it got too hot, which I think helped her relax some. Right now she and DS are peacefully playing a computer game together. Hopefully, they can maintain that vibe. (I spoke too soon - peace over. sigh)

They go back to school the 27th, and I think we are more than ready for it. We have packet pickup for DS this week, and are probably going to brave the tax-free sales this weekend to get both of them some clothes. DD won't have her meet-the teacher until the 23rd, so she will be in suspense a little bit longer.

I just finished explaining World War II and Nazis to my seven year old. Yeah, I'm ready for school to start. :waiting

I'm ready for school to start and I don't have kids in school anymore! Okay....I got grandbabies going to school but the teachers are what's driving me insane today. I think I've reset every. stinking. password for every teacher today. O.M.G.! Bet they don't forget their ATM Pin! Yes, my rant is over and all is well with the world again. :)

I'm lesson planning. Just trying to get the first 5 weeks or so figured out before we jump in (not starting until labor day week so I have a little bit of time). I've finished the first week, and have maybe 30 minutes more to go before finishing the second week. Trying to do one week per day then that gives me next week to start gathering supplies. Then after the first week is over I plan on taking a few hours each week to do the next weekly lesson plan so that I'm (hopefully) always a month ahead.

DD is soaking up her last couple of weeks of freedom. We've never ever in our homeschooling history taken a break this long..usually just a month in the summer, but we needed the longer break this time around.

Just took DD2 to the doctor and she has the CROUP. She's going to miss her first two days of kindergarten. Major disappointment and tears from my baby girl...

Blah. Not the best day ever.

Bunch of nothing. I don't really do much for back to school. I used to go rage spend $1000 on sweaters and jeans, but what the hell they wear shorts the first few weeks anyway, so why bother. I did get all the notebooks and whatnot, and we'll make a shoe trip. Otherwise, meh.

I do have a straight week of orientations coming up, though. Different night for each kid. Oy. lol

We've already done a lot of clothes and shoe shopping, thanks to the Nordstrom sale and Gap Kids. I don't have to buy supplies, our school uses an online supplier and we can order through them, which I always do. It comes in one big package and it's divided out and shrink wrapped for each kid to take with them on the first day.

The hardest thing I've been doing is trying to teach my kid two grades of math over the Summer. He made it into an accelerated math program and I was told I needed to get him up to speed with 4th and 5th grade Math over the Summer, because he is going from 3rd grade to 6th. It's been so difficult teaching him. Either I have no patience or he gets easily frustrated with me or both. We only have one more week of Summer left to cram the rest of it in.

I am on vacation this week and I couldn't be happier! :) I've gone to some museums, did some shopping, discovered The Guild (and watched all of it! Great web series!). After walking around most of the day, I came home and just had a nap. Now I need to make some dinner.

I had to do some back to school shopping too, not that I have kids or anything, but because the stuff at Target was just too cute!

Laura, I'm so sad for her! That really stinks :(

Well right at this very moment I'm watching Tosh.0.

But...in general....I just went back to work today after a few days off and I'm prepping for a busy next few days. Tomorrow we have to take the dog to the vet to see what's ailing him (I think maybe parasites? Poor guy. We just adopted him a month ago after he spent 3 months in the shelter...). I've also been working with my 4 year old on preschool stuff. She starts pre-K in a month but I want to get a jump start. She has homework every night while pre-K is in session so I want to get her used to it. I'm learning a lot about how she learns, and feeling like a bad mommy for not starting this with her sooner.

Aww poor girl Laura! Prepping your kid for kindergarten is hard enough! I hate to imagine the stress of them being so sick on top of it!

My kids are going into kindy and 3rd grade. There's a new multiage program we opted for this year so the kids will be in mixed groups with different ages. I'm kinda stoked for it because I think my kids will do well with it. Some of the moms are all "meh" about it but I think it's cool and I discussed it thoroughly with both of their teachers last year before committing my kids to enroll in it and I feel good about it. I'm not really stressed yet though. We don't start til after labor day. I haven't shopped for a single thing yet! But I've decided to pack their lunches for them this year so....I've got to get their clothes (they've pretty much outgrown everything and each kid needs TWO pairs of shoes), their supplies and I plan on going bulk grocery shopping to stock up for packing the lunches. Ok...listing it all out maybe invokes a little stress now! But really I just roll with it, it'll be fine. They're drivin me nutso, but I'll still miss them when school starts. Especially my little man. I don't want him to be growing up so fast. I'll be an emotional wreck the first day!

I've been lazy. Eric started me on Vampire Diaries the other night...but he was on episode 18. I had to go back and watch them from the beginning...so, basically that's all I've been doing in my free time!

and I never did back to school shopping except for school supplies. Down here in SoCal, it's still in the 90's through October, still shorts weather through November and even December. Maybe a few new shirts at Target that they liked...and that was it. I homeschooled when we lived in Washington, so no need to then either. We could wait till the stores had their 60% + off...and do it then!
