Is everyone ready to kick off this awesome Storytellers event with challenges, freebies, tutorials & more...?? Well I am, especially when I get to host one of the first challenges! I'm so excited and hope we'll all find lots of inspiration and fun!! My challenge is about using a "series of photos". Often, in scrapping, we might use a group of photos from the same event to tell the story more fully. However, we want to encourage you to take your photo storytelling one step further. Try taking a series of photo that stands alone by telling a story with the images rather than words. The goal is to convey what's happening through the progression of your photos. To help you understand the difference between a group of photos and storytelling progression, here are some examples. These cute photos by Liana are a group of pictures from the same photo shoot. Many of us might be tempted to use only the top 2 photos on our layouts because they show what a darling baby Phoebe is. However, when you add the bottom 2 photos, then the series tells the story of what happened during the shoot. Now, here is a series by Liana that tells the story through the progression of photos. You can easily understand what's happening here without any accompanying words. You don't have to have such an emotional event to show progression though. You can demonstrate it through time lapse of even something as simple as the weather. Now here is my series of photos... Our little princess, became a big girl... While being 3,5 years old, it was time to let go of her pacifiers!! So we had gotten some helium filled balloons and attached the pacifiers. After dinner we went to this canal close by, and it was time to let go... She did awesome (and no drama at all!!) and we're so proud!! The photos tell the story. So, here is your challenge: *Take or use photos you already have to show the progression of a story. Again, the key to remember is that even if the photos weren't on a scrapbook page or there was no journalling, the photos tell the story. *Photos can be of one event or over time *Then, scrap them! You definitely are allowed to use journaling. Imagine how strong your page will be when you are telling the story through both pictures and words! *And lastly, please upload them to the special 'we are storytellers' section in the gallery and link us here https://the-lilypad.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=981 The deadline for this challenge is September 1st at 11 pm EDT. The Pollys will choose one layout as our Storyteller Standout from this challenge for a $10 prize. One random layout will receive a $5 participation prize. - Your page must use at least 50% of any TLP products and be posted in both the gallery and this thread Do you need some ideas to get you started? Here are some examples: - a baby starting to feed herself (start with clean, during and then a FULL ON messy face) - a child learning to ride a bike (maybe tears of frustration in the beginning, wobbling, then riding with a smile) - remodelling the kitchen (showing the old kitchen, work in progress and finished) - baking cookies (from making dough, cutting shapes, to eating - weight loss portraits - nature photography, such a caterpillar, cocoon and butterfly sequence Here are some examples from the Pollys for inspiration... By Anne, created with our beautiful 'the storytellers' kit (which you can download as a daily gift during our 'we are storytellers' event!) By Lori...ouch, poor boy! By Susanne...from bud to flower <3 By Juliette, It shows the progression from getting the key and seeing her empty craft cave to having her desk in order... By Jenn McCabe, showing the progression of getting the canoe afloat My page with the photos from above: Here are a few goodies that would be perfect for using series of photos...And obviously most of the project life or pocket page templates would be perfect!! We can't wait to see your pages!
I *just* did a LO like this yesterday. Can I submit it for this challenge? I did not use it for any other challenge.
You do not have to use the WAS kit for your pages but it would still need to conform to the LilyPad product gallery rules for posting.
No problem, Agnes. Can't wait to see your page. Here is mine. It tells the story of my kids getting up the courage to jump off the boat dock into the murky part of the river.
It must be a new page made specifically for the challenge. As long as you use 50% TLP product and post it in the gallery, the page will qualify. You can use WAS pieces if you wish, but it's not required.
oh no! Hope all is ok! When we took him to the orthopedist, he said the trampoline center (which had only been open 3 weeks) was keeping him in business - overtime! And of coarse my son wanted to go back - with the cast on! lol!
I have tons of photos I take in a series, so I'll be back with my page! And can I just say Petra that I LOVE your idea (and photos) of your girl letting go of the pacifiers. It's such a visual thing; I may just have to borrow the idea when it's time for my DD to give up hers.
