We have been reeling, I am not sure if it is the low levels of water or the warm temperatures that make food spoil faster but I have just experienced my 4th or 5th bout this summer. We have some quaint expressions for this though and I thought I would share and you could add yours too? The runs or rumbly runs Having the bottom drop out of your world Loo-sies ( I really have no idea how to even begin spelling this one, pronounced like Lucy's) Then my (hopefully soon to be future daughter in law) said in Afrikaans the other day that she shot a cat! Both DD and I said, what? Apparently that meant vomiting. Throwing up. C'mon and share your euphemisms.
Some of the terms we use when having tummy issues... bubble guts or the Bee geees coming out of both ends (if it's really bad) hmm? I can't think of others right now
This may be too graphic but hubby calls the runs "the hershey squirts" Ew! Lol! vomiting we call throwing up, puking, upchucking
Bwahahahahaha! Here's one I haven't seen for upset tummy: hooty-hoos. As in, "He's got the hooty-hoos." LOL
Barbara beat me to it. We say "runs" and "upchuck" too. Montezuma's Revenge we've used when on Mexico holidays. So far, I'm loving "hooty-hoos"....sounds so much better thant what it means LOL!
"sick poopies" is what I used when raising my kids "hurl or hurling" for vomiting - although I normally just say vomiting. And speaking of code names, for that "time of the month", we used to say "Emily of the Red Cross was visiting', or sometimes just "Emily came to visit".
Is it bad that I am sitting here chortling? @bbymks5 I have heard that one as well. @BevG We used to say hugging the throne or hugging the porcelain. And we have Aunty Flo that visits. @LoveItScrapIt I love the bubble guts - gonna keep that one. @gonewiththewind I don't think hooty hoos will translate to these shores, people will just think someone is being la-di-da and getting too big for their boots!
We've used some of the ones mentioned above. Hershey squirts, got the trots, loosey-goosies, the runs, and throw up, up chuck and hurl for the other end. So not fun being sick or having someone in the house sick! Hope everyone will get well soon at your house Stefanie.
