So evidently I'm thinking a lot about accessories lately :giggle. I saw this meme this morning: 86470665_2883084565093678_8047290041363333120_n.jpg
and I am said "short girl". I am extremely picky about sunglasses and probably spent over an hour in the store trying on different pairs before I settled on the ones I have now. I have to try them on my face and on my head because I wear them up a lot through the day and I don't want ones that are going to keep getting caught in my hair :giggle. I have several cheap pairs, but sunglasses are one thing that I tend to invest in a little more. My current ones are Ray-Ban polarized aviators, and I like them good enough, but I've had them for a couple of years and I'm thinking about a new pair. I've had mostly Oakleys and Ray-Bans.

Do you have a favorite pair of sunglasses? Is there a brand that you prefer?

My DD age 28 and her DH age 30 are big into high end sunglasses. They don't splurge on much, but on those they do and they like Carrera

I have tall girl problems, so I'm not familiar with this particular visor problem. I have other issues though. LOL

I have prescription sunglasses, and I'm often not in the car for long driving distances to feel it's worth it to change them out. LOL I do live in Florida, though, so we have loads of sunshine and as a light eyed person, I have to take care of them so I try to change them out. They are still not my favorite, but eh, it is what it is.

I did find a pair of vintage Raybans, in the case, for $3 - seriously, right? They needed quite a bit of cleaning (although the case was in mint condition). They are big enough I can quickly slip them on over my regular glasses so I tend to wear these a bit more.

Ohhh I just looked at some of those...nice! Same here. I seldom splurge on anything, but my sunglasses are a different story :)

I'm in the car A LOT! My eyes are dark, but I'm finding as I get older that they are way more sensitive than they used to be.
I love those Ray-Bans!! What a fabulous find! I'd love to stumble across a deal like that!

They give me a headache- make my eyes freak out like they are shaking.:cornfused:imok So can't help ya there. :-)

Another short girl here and yes I have that problem.

But I just can't wear any old sunglasses and I struggled with clip on's so in 2013, when my prescription changed, I got a pair of prescription sunglasses. I got a cheap frame from their discount collection. They live in my car so are always handy in the summer or winter when the sun is too bright.

My next major prescription change was a year ago. I have 2 pairs of glasses (1 wire and 1 plastic) so I got 1 pair of new frames/lenses and had new lenses put into the plastic frames and the sunglass frames. Yeah, I know, a lot of money but I have to have the prescription sunglasses and I have to switch between the other types of frames. With a young dog that likes to paw and lick my face I wear the plastic the most. The wires are for when I go out and away from the dog! I had a couple pair of wire frames broken but the previous dogs in the household... that's when I got a backup pair of plastic. They are sturdier IMO.

I really don't need glasses except for reading - and night driving - but I have one pair of prescription glasses that are good transition lenses. There are my 'most of the year' sunglasses. For the most part that's good enough for me but I do have a couple of better than the $ store but not up in the Ray ban category sunglasses that I got on line. Mainly to get a decent pair of readers for driving in the summer or reading anywhere outside. Now that I have a new car with GPS I don't have to try and read my phone map while driving and I thank god I never killed myself doing that. I usually pulled over if I could. :angel

Another tall girl here. There are still times when that sun is just at the wrong angle for the visor to be any help at all though. In those cases I will usually try to change my route if possible so that the sun has a chance to move before I have to drive into it again. If not, I do a lot of driving with one hand up to block the light. :p

As far as sunglasses, I wear prescription glasses all the time and just do cheap clip-on sunglasses. I keep one pair in our van that I drive 99% of the time and another on my desk for when I am just outside around here or drive one of the other cars. I had transitions lenses for a while, but they wouldn't change when I was in the van, which was 95% of the time I needed sunglasses, so I didn't bother with it again when I replaced them. I was never really into fancy sunglasses even when I wore contacts, so I have no idea what the "cool" brands are and would probably have major sticker shock if I walked into one of those places. :giggle

My optometrist gave me a stern lecture about wearing sunglasses to protect my eyes. I purchased the lovely prescription sun glasses and wore them for one week while in the Dominican Republic. I have not worn them since, bad, bad Carol.:cool::cool:

I got the same lecture! I got some cute prescription sun glasses though and don't mind wearing them. When I'm just out and about and know that I'm going to be putting them on my head - which is a bad habit of mine - I have a pair from the drugstore that I wear. My prescription sunglasses cost too much to stick up on my head. They're wonderful for driving, though.

I don't wear glasses all the time, but I do have a few pairs of readers and I agree, the plastic tend to hold up a lot better with kids and pets.

I need readers for the phone most of the time, so I totally get the GPS thing! I usually try to set the navigation on my phone while I sitting still and then I just have to pay attention to the turns lol.

I do a lot of hand blocking the sun as well. I picked up my grandson this evening and he was whining about the sun in his eyes all the way home. I tried to teach him how to use his hand, but he couldn't get it positioned just right haha.

I wear the cheaper ones a lot when we go to the pool or amusement park, where they are more likely to get damaged. The good ones are mainly for driving only :)

I always have mine on my head when I'm not looking through them. I used to buy these cool aviators, at Walgreen's - they were about $20 and I had at least 4 pairs of them. I went in there recently and found these super cute sunglasses for $8.00!! I was like "yes" do they have more than one pair??? Sadly - no. But they're great.

I used to be like a lot of you and not wear sunglasses very often. Can't do it anymore. For many years, I did have the transition lenses but it got to the point that they weren't dark enough for me. Clip on sunglasses also weren't that great for me. That's why I went to prescription and I am so glad I did.

Add sensitivity to light because of cataracts and chronic dry eye... sigh.

Every time I see my eye specialist (every 3 months) she says "don't forget to wear your sunglasses EVERY TIME you do out!"
