I just need to vent a little :disagree.

My work situation has been extremely stressful the past few weeks. Today we terminated 24 full time associates - good workers that deserve to continue working. We lost lead associates and one supervisor and one manager on top of it. The company I work for is on shaky ground and are trying to do all they can to get us stabilized (obviously, so they can make money). We were a 3 shift operation and have dwindled down to 2 shifts - and to replace the 24 associates that were termed, we are adding 55 temporary employees! :dizzy (We will have 100+ temps in the building - today our janitor found a pack of cigarettes on the floor and brought them to me. When I opened it up - there weren't cigarettes in it - but 3 marijuana joints!!! A few weeks ago someone had a soda bottle filled with vodka instead of Mello Yello - so the temp situation is atrocious!!)

The pain in my heart today was overwhelming. The people I had to walk out were friends - and family (my niece). These are such life changing events ...

I am so thankful to still have a good paying position, but hate having to deal with this sort of BS - our parent company wants us to do magic with what we have and will not make any future investments in equipment or upgrades to help. I'm afraid it is a loosing battle ... but I won't get off of the ship until it sinks.

Once the weekend rolls around (okay, just Sunday - we're working Saturday!) I will be in need of some serious scrap therapy!!

Thanks for listening!

Oh, I know how painful that is. Our company has been rocky for years and I've lost so many of my coworkers to downsizing, only to replace them with part timers who don't care. It's so frustrating, but like you, I'll go down with the ship.

Oh goodness...that is terrible. :( I am so sorry that you are dealing with all that! I hope that the company can weather the storm and that your job remains secure. And it definitely sounds like you will need some scrap therapy this coming weekend - take full advantage girl - you deserve it after this week.

so stressful indeed.... it is terrible the way this world is going... :( I have many friends who lost their jobs, here in England a lot of arreas are chaotic :(

Hope things get a bit better - look forward to the pages-
Huge huggzzz

oh Jill, I would be a basketcase of tears and snot! My heart goes out to you, for your compassion...may you laugh and enjoy scrapping this weekend!

Oh no that is terrible! Sounds like they were better off keeping the people they had as they are loosing loyal customers by bringing in the crapola from the temp agency from what you're telling us. :( I hope things look up soon for you!

My heart goes out to you, too. My husband had to go into early retirement 5 years ago when his company downsized. Hang in there.

Oh man, I get it. My husband's company has bounced like 5 of his paychecks recently. I was in a really bad work situation for a year. Then everything came to a head & really there was no choice but to transfer. I can't tell you how happy I am in this job. It's everything I've wanted. I had to go through that horrible time & was rewarded greatly. Hang in there. It's not always bad stuff around the corner. I wish you the best.

Sounds very awful! I feel the pain of this economy as well. I know that I would rather be walked out by a friend than someone who was against me. Hopefully that can help you feel a little better...

Oh man I feel your pain Jill, I have had to walk a friend out once and it broke my heart. Stay strong and I hope it all settles down there for your company xx

O gosh Jill! I'm so sorry - for you and for all the people that were let go. Did they even get the option of becoming a temp employee? I hope you find scrap therapy soon!

I'm so sorry that you're still having so much stress at work. I can't even imagine how hard that must have been to have to walk friends and family that were coworkers out. That's just awful, especially knowing that they deserved to still be there and no be replaced by temps. I can't believe people would bring drugs and alcohol to work! Seriously? At least the dread of the awful day of letting people go is past. I sure hope that things will look up for you there soon. Hugs to you! I think you'll know what to scrap about for the scrap therapy challenge!

I've been in this same situation so I really understand, once I was one of the "downsized" and I have also watched many good people walk out the doors for the last time. It is a very emotional situation, sorry to see them leave and a little happy that you still have a job, it can, indeed, be a stressful time. I will be sending positive thoughts your way. Hang in there, the weekend is coming.

oh Jill I am so sorry you had to go through, I can only imagine how hard that must have been. I hope there are brighter times around the corner for you at work. It too bad the good workers weren't offered the option of being a temp, while not ideal at least they would have been earning something while looking for something else.

Thank you so much for your thoughts, prayers and words of wisdom! TLP is such a friendly place to be!! :heartslub:heartslub

This too shall pass - and today I feel better about everything than I did yesterday! It will get better with time - and I do need to stay focused and positive ...

I'm sorry you're having to deal with all the stress and drama, Jill. Downsizing is no fun, from either point of view. I'm one of the two rats left on the ship here, now...
