So, Munchkin likes to listen to that song Stressed Out by Twenty One Pilots over and over and over. He says it relaxes him. It got me thinking. What do you do when you are stressed out? How do you relax?
My best remedy for stress is usually sleep. And sometimes, for some weird reason, I clean when I'm stressed. The state of my house would suggest I don't get stressed very often though.
Sometimes nothing ... other times I snuggle with my little dude or make my big dudes give me a hug. If it's work stress, I will decompress with a glass of wine and a magazine or scrap.
When I get stressed I like quiet. I read, go for a walk...be by myself or bring Taz along. I also like to do stretches, regulate my breathing and kind of "zen" myself into a good head space again.
I love that song by the way and have it on my Favorites Playlist. If I have my noise canceling headphones on, they know not to bother me. They're blue tooth and have a very strong range, so I even clean in them. I'm like @Karen I also clean when I'm stressed out.
I had a brilliant therapist tell me the reason I clean, and organize when I am stressed, is I don't have control of the people in my life. They don't follow the rules etc, so I will set my forks in order and they stay that way. lol
Stressed backwards you know is dessert!? But I try so hard not to eat in stressful times. I am really really really trying to stop the worry/stress drama. I speak to it. Seriously, I do. I pray, and speak out loud. I say, no. I am too blessed for stress, I am not gonna change a darn thing stressing or worrying about it. I will totally mess it up this way, and feel worse. I choose not to stress. Thank you Jesus. I give this to you, totally, and am gonna let you take control. However it works out, and ask for strength in getting thru it. Now. What is next for the day!
Walking really helps me when I am stressed. When I am living under constant stress (usually because dh is super stressed out), I don't eat and lose weight. Fortunately, those periods are sporadic. p.s. big party today and I broke the top of my glass cake stand... but I will not be stressed over it... I am actually just sitting here waiting for guests to arrive - crazy, uhn? The family all helped out this time. About 45+ people coming for a cook-out (but who wants to be outside in 92 and humid?) to celebrate dd's high school graduation. Gotta go put the dogs on the grill soon.
You go girl!!! Didn't even get stressed out over breaking the top of your cake stand! I'm sure your party will be a huge success and congrats to DH!!
I love that song! It's set as my text tone right now lol I stress clean as well, or nap. I'm not a stress eater, really the exact opposite...I lose my appetite when I'm stressed. But I don't get stressed about much of anything. Like Anne, I usually talk myself out of it by reminding myself that stressing about it won't change it and it will all work out.
Yes to chocolate! Always the chocolate. I clean when I'm mad. And apparently that doesn't happen enough here! Worried also brings out the cleaning. This is so sweet! I love it. Awesome! And healthy right?
I enjoy it. It's one I don't mind him listening to! I love this mantra! What?!?! It's barely 70 here. Mother Nature is totally drunk. That is beautiful. I should try it! It's the ringtone when my one friend calls. We text all the time, and see each other in person, so when she calls I know she's really stressed!
I'm pretty easy going. But if I am super stressed most likely I'll cry. And I really find that relieving. I also sometimes stress clean like @Karen Having alone time is so important to me, too, so I do it a little everyday no matter what. Maybe that keeps me from getting too stressed.
I'm a pretty easy going person & not much stresses me out. The times in my life when I've been really stressed or anxious I spend a lot more time sleeping. The month before each of our adoptions I slept the month away...those were probably the most stressful/anxious filled times in my life.
@Karen Sleep solves everything really! I do the same if I can. To be honest though I don’t cope particularly well in stressful situations for the most part - I tend to panic, always say next time I won’t but it never happens.
