Soooo

I am creating for my CT's - so much BYOC goodness coming to the store, no time to get bored yet.

I am hoping to get started on the Monthly and Designer Challenges later. But first, there is the little matter of some dust bunnies that moved in over January. Not sure how that happened! :giggle

it's been a long week, their first full week back at school since before xmas (both at the same school now but 2 different finish times, so i'm picking DS up half an hour earlier than last year but having to hang round with him for 45mins to pick up DD, then the half hour drive home - we've run errands & such in the 45mins but DD started a casual fast food job in early Jan (after a lot of me pleading for her to pick some of her stuff etc, DH told her to clean up her room or apply for a job and he said it as a joke mostly but she chose the later :duh). So now it means her having dinner as soon as we get home from school and getting back in the car again to drive another 20-25mins (in a different direction) to drop her there for a 3hr shift a few evenings a week. Then i turn around and go back home, sort dinner for the rest of us, prep next day lunch, snacks & uniforms, then go back to pick her up from the job, return & then it's nearly 9pm & i'm zapped.
Fri's DD finishes class at the same time as DS though & they can get the bus together, which they're trialling today b/c DS isn't keen - she trained a few evenings a week plus Fri evenings for the job but wasn't rostered on Fri this week, if she ends up being rostered on Fri's in the future, well, the longer trip home on the bus will make the 'get changed, eat early dinner & get to work' turn around too tight so i dunno - not thinking about that today!)
So i'm very 'TGIF!' but DD's social life means i'm taxi-ing her around tomorrow & have to find a birthday present either this arvo or in the morning - i made one layout this week & crammed in a lot of cleaning, ironing, early dinners and done meal planning and prepping, filled in a lot of forms like the start of every school year & also for DD's job and that was about all i could manage! i don't feel like i've had to fill much time at all - it was full enough!

Okay. What exactly is the Monthly Muse? I must admit I’ve never quite gotten the concept. Sorry... :blush
The Monthly Muse is a Theme or Inspiration we put up for you weekly to create from. You play along and each month we pick one winner snd they get a $5 coupon to the store!

I am exhausted just reading this! WOW! You need a personal driver just for your daughter!

And this is why my kids and my two older live-in GKs never had jobs in high school. I wasn't willing to rush home from work to get them to a job, or spend my weekends transporting them to jobs, along with sports and scouts. I've been debating on whether or not to make the youngest GK get a job next Fall when he's 16 ... he's not involved in scouts, he only plays basketball (Dec-March), so it's doable ... but do I want to do it, lol!!!

I just made myself a checklist for Feb. If I scrap a layout I get a check--goal is to have a check on at least 24 of the 28 days. I want to keep the momentum going! I'll probably do a few challenges but more will just be guided by my photos and what I need to scrap for the book I'm working on.

I'm trying to do this too. Usually I feel quite burnt out at the end of MOC but this year I'm determined to keep going and aiming for a page a day. It's probable that some days I won't do any, some days I'll do 6 off the trot but going to try for at least 28 pages this month.

Scrapping a page a day for MOC has helped my mental health so much this year in a time where my anxiety is higher than it's ever been. So I'm hoping keeping up the momentum will help level that out a little for me.

So that, meal planning, catching up with cleaning and keeping the littles alive has been my life since MOC.

Oh! I really like this idea!

This made me happy. I can always tell when I haven't had enough scrappy time because I feel it mentally. I hope you are able to keep finding the time to take care of yourself!

meal planning and cooking will be easier (we were all on different meal plans so it was a bit time consuming figuring out everyone's menu)
I can't even imagine this challenge! I have a hard enough time using my web app to keep one meal plan straight with lunches/work schedules. You are amazing to keep everyone's different meal plans going!

I’m exhausted just reading about your day to day running around @bellbird. I hope any niggles with being your kids taxi get sorted out over time though.

Work...boooooooooooo :cry

That’s about how I feel with job applications at this point too.....cranked out 10 since January 5th 2021. Would rather not but if I want money I must. (I’m only complaining because it’s been my reality for 5 1/4 years now)

We've been fully virtual for the last week because of snow
I'm sorry!
As a parent, I kinda like that snow days are now virtual so we don't have to make them up. But, the kid in me who got snow days feels bad for the kids, and the teachers!

My school district is still going with the 5 snow days allotted by the state but will use the virtual option once they have used those so in essence kids can still get 5 days off during the school year.

My school district has already used "virtual school days" with our snow this week. IMO, that might be one good thing that came out of the pandemic. For the reason that school calendars will not change from what was set at the beginning of the year. Those years of year end events being pushed back because of having to make up snow days once they used the allotted 5 days frustrated teachers and especially parents. So many parents plan big parties for graduation and in order to get the tents/chairs/tables needed they have to get their deposits in for the specific date they want in the fall... long before they know about weather days! Almost as big a production as a wedding sometimes.

Come spring and summer when we have some days off and are not having to make up days, I will be thrilled...but they've kind of sucked in the moment lol

This is a great plan! I would have loved that!

It doesn't sound like you have too much free time at all! How long before DD can drive herself to her job?
She won't be old enough for L plates for at least another 6 & a bit months (she started school early so some of her friends are going onto P's shortly & why when she was going on about her friends having jobs & money last year I was like well 14 is too young) - so no time soon; glad the girl suggested a gift card as a present b/c we're heading out and I'm already looking forward to Sunday. I'll BBL

Well, we do tend to have at least 5 snow days a year although some time they are for heavy fog instead of snow. The school district has many bus miles on country roads so fog is always a problem. So they have always more or less built that into the schedule. It's when they get past the 5 that gets frustrating.

The way ours has always worked is that we make up the first five, and then it's the next 5 that are "free" and don't have to be made up...then it starts over. Usually some of the first five are built in, like they'll take MLK, Jr Day, Presidents Day, etc. and maybe a couple on the end of the year. But, there have been many of times that we go over the 10 and after that they all go on the end of the year.
