I got a Silhouette Portrait about a month ago. I am SO confused. It's definitely more complicated than the Cricut.

How do I cut something that has different colors in the design?

Any other tips would be appreciated too! LOL Thanks :)

Have you cut anything with it?

I'm a Silhouette newbie, just got the Cameo for Christmas. But I started with a Cricut Expression, then moved to a Sizzix Eclips. And the Silhouette is different from both of them!

If it's a rectangle, circle, or other standard shape, you can use the shape tool to put cut lines around it.

If it's not, you can try tracing it as-is. Turn off the high-pass filter and crank up the threshold until everything turns yellow. If there aren't supposed to be cuts within the shape, and it's not filling completely but the outside edge is all yellow, you can select "Trace Outer Edge".

If that doesn't work, bring it into PS/PSE and make a version that is completely black. Then you can definitely trace it. When you buy print-and-cut products from TLP, they always come with black trace sheets. This is why!
