I know what you're thinking - whaaaat? Julie's going to art journal?? Well, yes, sort of. I am trying to stretch out of my clean and simple comfort box and try my hand at journaling, and templates, and, well, the art journal style. But in fairness, what I consider to be art journaling might not be (and actually, probably IS NOT), what a traditional art journal scrapper would consider true to style. And you know what? That's okay. We as scrappers need to realize that we all have a little bit different idea in our head of what we consider each of the styles to be, and there's a whole lot of us that scrap somewhere in between the "traditional" styles anyway. So, yes, I art journaled. I did it in my way, my interpretation, and in a way that was comfortable to me. So, your style challenge this month is ART JOURNALING! Yay! Go for what speaks to you in the art journal style, and don't get too hung up on how your page is "supposed" to look! Just have fun with it!! Here's my page: As you can see, it's a little messy, but it still retains some of the simple structure that I like. Did this page come easy to me? No. I kept forcing myself to add more, and get more messy. But did I have fun? Oh, heck yeah! Please remember the monthly challenge rules: Your page must contain at least 75% Lilypad product. Your page should be posted to the Lilypad Gallery and then linked to the Challenge Layouts thread so it can be tracked, and to this thread. The Lilypad uses a percent system for our challenges; the number of challenges you participate in determines the store discount you will receive at the end of the month: 2 challenges = 10% off 4 challenges = 20% off 6 challenges = 30% off If you complete 7 challenges, you will receive a coupon for 30% off, plus you will be entered to win a guest spot on the Lilypad Creative Team! The first seven challenges will be posted on the first of the month; the eighth challenge is the BYOC challenge, which is posted on BYOC release day. Each page counts for one challenge (you cannot use one layout for multiple challenges). So for those of you who don't usually art journal, let yourselves go a little bit and have fun experimenting! And for those of you who art journal all the time, try not to laugh too much at my attempt, okay?
