I use Snagit to do my training stuff for work and for scrapping tutorials. I purchased Camtasia to do some video recording a couple of years ago and because of work duties at the time I wasn't able to delve in and learn it. My work situation is much better and I'm hoping to have time to play with it and put out some scrapping video's .
Not sure on the use case you have in mind for screen recording...but my son plays games and he utilizes so much memory that we had to get him a special graphics card to be able to record game play. AMD has a high end screen recording software software available for free that requires this card. But if you're not a game you don't need this https://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/DH-023.aspx
I agree with @frani_54 - Snagit is a good program, but you do have to purchase it. It's around $50. OBS (Open Broadcaster Software) is free and you can use it for recording and live streaming. Those are the two best that I've found.
I can tell you what I use when I get home Tuesday. Lol! Remind me if I don't post back! I use a free program that works well for me, and has let me record for tutorials, and YouTube videos.
Thank you. I did end up purchasing one...called Filmora Wondershare Open Broadcaster is the one I had .... Thanks. I did end up finding one to purchase. So far I really like it
