Think its time i sat and sorted out my scrap stuff and tag some in acdsee,so see you in a few hours

Enjoy! I've never tagged my stuff. I organize in iPhoto by designer, and then I separate kits in sub-folders. I don't have the patience to tag ;-)

Mine is all tagged. :D It took me a week or so to get it done originally (and I purged a ton first!) but now that it's done, it's not that bad to maintain. I force myself to tag a kit before I use it, and that helps. Download / unzip / tag / use. Often I tag it as I'm going. Tag the papers, add them to my page, then tag the elements and carry on.

It's very handy when I'm looking for something.

I do need to go through and add more tags, though. As my hoard has increased, my "misc" overfloweth. lol

i have started this process about 20 times, but i never seem to get past the c's in my designer names. *sigh* i have too much stuff.

i have started this process about 20 times....i have too much stuff.

I've tried but then I get bored and want to scrapbook so I just gave up on tagging. And I have absolutely way too much that I never, ever will ever use again........maybe. ;)

i did this last weekend, and still may be. i have everything organized on my external. then decided to put project life 'pocket pieces' into their own folders on my computer. between paint, buttons, cards, tags, hearts, stars, word bits .... there are so many folders. and so much to still organize.

no one release anything amazing till I've got this under control! kthanks.

Nope, no tagging here either. I just organize my scrap stuff by the CT's I'm on because I don't shop too much outside the TLP... my TLP folder is HUGE but it's divided also by category. Anything non CT related goes into my general scrapbooking folder and also divided into different categories. I've been doing it like that for over 6 years now and it works. :)

I'm pretty scattered person, but this is the only place that is tidy - my computer :giggle
Arrange my sets for designers and some of them thematically in time.
For example: Winter, Christmas, Easter, Birthday, girls, boys, sea...etc.. :)

I have all of my previews tagged...now I'm going back and tagging individual items from kits. Right now I'm working on my TLP stuff so that it'll make speed scraps and challenges easier. I may only tag my favorite items from my plethora of other kits...otherwise I think looking up a piece of red paper might get overwhelming.

Good luck with your tagging!

i use bridge and its all tagged, you have stay on it though or it really can be awful. the iPhoto thing intrigues me.

Hmmmm... you ladies amaze me. I totally don't have the patience to even pretend like I'm going to tag/organize. I'm lucky to get it unzipped and used. :p I have never tagged because I've just used the "search" feature in windows explorer and that works pretty well as far as my needs vs. my laziness are concerned. :giggle

I also pretty much have certain designers I shop for certain things, so I have everything organized into designer folders at this point. I did create a PL folder and am copying PL related stuff into that, so that has been helpful (for the one week I've finished so far... LOL!)

Although I'm going to have to do something because I've maxed out my EHD and need to start using a new one. I'm thinking that now, I'll just move all of my TLP stuff onto that and then leave everything else on the first EHD.

I think one of us needs to strike it rich by coming up with a program that can unzip and auto tag at the same time. :D

ohhh I HATE the tagging. But I LOVE the results. And unfortunately when DH fixed up my computer in the spring he didn't move acdsee over. It's still on the old hard drive somewhere, I just keep forgetting to ask him about it... I don't know if I can move it or not! I need to go purge for sure - I have SOOOOOOOOOO many kits that I will just never ever use.

I guess I'm in the minority, I tag everything. I use ACDSee and LOVE IT! It did take a while at the beginning to get it all done but it is worth it.

Over the holidays, I buy so much stuff it goes into the "to be tagged" folder. I'll admit to finally getting all of that tagged at the beginning of February. But if I'm going to use it, it gets tagged first.

i forgot i was supposed to be tagging ha ha till i saw this i only did allisons stuff before i found something else to do and im gonna have a good purge as i go,im lucky i only have tlp stuff but it is a huge folder and over many years

I've never tagged either. I did download ACDsee once with all intentions of doing it and I think I actually even started it, but I didn't make it far. My system works for me, so I'm sticking with it. :)

Karen, you crack me up! I was just going to give you a big HURRAH of encouragement but just read your most recent post. :)
I use Adobe Bridge and, like Angie, I force myself to tag before I use. The one epiphany I had recently is that many of the file names have a helpful word in them, such as "button" or "key" so I don't tag those because they'll show up on a search anyway. I love being able to press a button and see ALL my papers so I can quickly flip through them to find the right color. It's still overwhelming to me, though to manage so much stuff.

*le sigh* and the longer you are here, the worse it will be with every. growing. week. ;) The torture of being around these amazing designers with their snazzy must-have products! I don't know how we put up with them. :giggle
