Who shoots in RAW? Do you love it? Is it easy? Just wondering if I would benefit from it....

depends....
I shoot in raw if I know my client wants to blow up their images big.

Its good to learn, you can do alot of stuff PP, like fix white balance and stuff.

I do. I like the flexibility of being able to do so much post-processing. Does take longer though as I have to do pp on each one.

My camera has a raw+jpeg option to shoot both at the same time. Although I've stopped bothering as I never kept the jpegs and I can see the raw files through Windows Gallery anyway.

It COMPLETELY saved me once when I accidentally left the camera on B&W all day, thanks to the magic of raw I got my colour pics back :-)

I only shoot raw too and swear by it! the extra bit of wiggle room is awesome!

I shoot in raw but only on shots that are real important or one's that I know I want wiggle room. Although PSE allows you to process multiple images in RAW at once (totally love that since I don't have light room), it still can take forever. For example, I recently did a photo book of my Disney pics for my MIL and I was so thankful that all 140 pics were not in RAW. It took me several days as it was to process all of them.

I shoot in raw as well. Like others have said I love the flexibility.

I don't unless I'm taking someone else's portraits - I'm not a fan of the huge file sizes, and the non-standard file format (although Adobe is trying with their DNG files) for storage. However, when I take someone else's portraits I will shoot in RAW sometimes and keep them around for a month or two. Then I chuck 'em and keep the JPEGs.

for personal use i rarely do.

but i don't shoot a wedding/session with out shooting in raw. you can have more control of exposure/wb/etc...
it is useful for correcting mistakes or poor lighting conditions!

Depends....

on a few things, like what I am shooting and how I feel but it really is mostly RAW. I am starting to get used to it.

I agree that it is great to learn and yiup....it can very much save your behind sometimes :D

Hey old friend! Happy to see you here! :)

Not to have another cook in the kitchen ... err photographer in the darkroom ...

But with your *new* camera, you should be able to shoot raw and jpg at the same time. Something that i do is shoot both. Right after importing them i move over my raw images to an external drive. Instant backup. Yes the jpgs are smaller so they are easier to process, but if a) anything ever happens to the original or b) something in the photo just isn't right you can always look back to your external to find the raw file and process it individually.

hope that helps.
and i hope you are enjoying your new camera!

lots of great advice on here!
