I have that issue when I use PSE 15 and the shadow seperator action too... from Mommyish hmmmmm. @mommyish is there something we can do to get that fixed re the action? I am going to check it out again re the write up that came with the Mommyish action. In the past when I used it I thought it seperated the entire shadow not just the edging. [notation: I deleted and reloaded the action and it works fine now.] I agree re Cheryl's method too.
@BevG Bev, here is the video which shows the entire shadow so I am going to try and uninstall and re install to see if that works https://the-lilypad.com/store/stylin-263.html @cookingmylife Maureen Using the PSE seperator action and how to manipulate the shadow Here is here PS video @michelepixels
@BevG I deleted the Shadow Seperator for PSE action by Mommyish @mommyish and reloaded the PSE action and it now worked reflecting the entire shadow and not just the sliver. I think if you delete and reload you should be good with it.
@BevG @mommyish now this is interesting... I just tried it again on different shadow choices, not using the shadow styles that come with the action and that is where I get the sliver shadow edging... if I use the shadow styles by Mommyish/Leah that come with the action, the shadow seperator action works fine seperating out the entire shadow but if i use a shadow by someone else, it only shows the shadow edging.
Ah - @cfile. That may have been what happened. I will try it as I often use Cheryl's shadowing styles too.
I had the same result. The action separates the shadow when you use the shadows that came with the action but not with other designers actions. I’m like you and usually use Cheryl’s shadows. Like you said the mommyish action doesn’t separate the whole shadow. It just separates the part of the shadow that is showing outside of the object. I messaged Leah @mommyish about it and she was looking into it. She was thinking it may require an additional script or something like that to work with other designer’s shadows. I hope she can figure it out and offer a new action that will separate any shadow style. I know us PSE users would LOVE IT!
This is awesome, I never paid the attention to the top part of an element to make it more realistic. Glad I read through this, learned a lot. Now I just need to go practice.
@cfile ...thank you for the paper bend tip. I've wondered how to easily do that and it's a great tip! I have yet to figure out the gradient tip you gave. I'm not sure it works as well in PSE...or it's just user error which could be the case. haha!
You are always so helpful...thank you! I *think* I may have figured out where I was going wrong. I selected just the top of my photo and applied the fill to that and I think that worked!
I would have added a blank layer above the photo and clipped it to the photo and then use the gradient (with the paint bucket) and have the gradient from black to transparent and do that .. lessen the opacity.. the corner edge you can do a highlight of white to transparent on the corner.. I will definitely do s mini video this week to show how
sorry Carrie.. I was on my phone so I couldn't see your screen shot as well. I will get to that this week for sure though
That sounds wonderful! Will you post the link to the video here? @cfile I have this thread "watched". Thanks!
