I'm totally going to have to scrap a bunch of layouts with these photos. But until I do I have to share the awesome news with all of you. I posted a few months ago a book that my oldest daughter wrote with her class. A biography about Shakespeare. These are grades 4 and 5 students, who did all the research, writing and designing themselves. They choose the chapters and divided themselves up into who was doing what. They sat with a book illustrator and designed the cover and published the book. It's been selling on Amazon for a few months (since June). Well Barnes & Nobles in the States as well as Indigo & Chapters here in Canada have now picked up the book. Today they had a book signing launch and it was a HUGE success. Selling to people just walking in the door. The store told the teacher at these kinds of events you're lucky to sell 10 books. They sold out of all 50 books within an hour! Now I need to find the right kit to scrap these photo's with.
I just love this story!! I shared it with my 7 year old grandson. I said "look what kids can do if they really want to". I love Shakespeare and am hoping that he will too. I plan to buy a copy of this book.
Thanks Cheryl for the support It's incredible what they have done with very little guidance and an amazing teacher who supported them.
THAT IS AWESOME! Sorry for yelling, but I'm really excited for the kids! I bet you're proud--as you should be. Congrats to them!
LOL - We all cheered in the store when the last book sold. The teacher said he was being optimistic when he brought 50 copies. Since the book has been out for a few months now, friends and family of the kids have all purchased books already. It was great to see such support for the kids.
What an awesome achievement! brag away -not many parents can say their school kid has had a book signing as the author! Sounds like it was a record breaking event too!
That is so amazing! Congratulations to your daughter and her class! What a great accomplishment and such a neat experience to have a book signing!
What a great experience for all those kids and their teachers! I think it's awesome that Barnes and Noble and Indigo & Chapters stepped up to give these kids that chance to shine.
