My PL kit, the binder and the Page Protectors still didn't arrive...
I have the digital kit because normally I do everything digital.
Then I saw all these beautiful PL albums here and decided to do the "real" PL...
O.k. ...it's hard to get everything here in Germany, but now I have the Tiny Attacher, Washi Tape, Smash Stamp, Sharpie Pens, Corner Rounder and much more...
*spent a lot of money*
Today I decided to do some card to be prepared when my PL kit arrives...
***
Creating in Photoshop was no problem...
Printing was a great problem...I have a new printer since christmas and it didn't want to print without a border. I think I printed about 10 or 12 cards to get two little journal cards which fitted in the 4x6...The printer settings were sooo complicated!!!
Next problem was to get the cards cut because there was a little white border around. My new cutter didn't work so exact...
I became desperate with getting the corners round, that little punch didn't work exact and I had to print about 5 or 6 new cards...
***
My new Selphy which I bought for printing the photos also makes problems...
With a SD-Card it's no problem to print, but it's a problem with my computer and I contacted Canon and now I wait what they are saying...
O.K. I printed with the SD-Card...but the cutout wasn't exact the same which I wanted (did in Photoshop) and things were cut off...

I never had problems with creating digital layouts, with creating photo books...and now THAT!!!
I think I spent 3 hours to get 2 little journaling cards which don't look very good...No "real "embellishments, only digital...No stitches, no washi, no...(think this would take another 3 hours...:whistle)

So at the moment I would like to "throw everything away", cancel my PL order and do everything digital...:cry:cry:cry
Digital would have two other advantages: front and back side mustn't be the same design and printed in a photo book it would be much smaller for storage...

Do you all have fun creating your "real" PL pages? Did you also have some problems or I am the only person with this here?

Thank you for listening:beat and sorry about my English...

Digi is so much easier than paper! I hear ya. But I love my paper PL album. I'd done a lot of hybrid before, so I was familiar with the process already. I knew all the settings for printing, I knew how I was going to cut things, I already had a corner rounder, etc., so it has been going pretty smoothly for me.

That said... I still have my moments of frustrations - like when I put the paper upside down in the printer :giggle, or last night, when I journaled and did a whole card on the back of a card from the previous week, only to realize I had rotated it, so when you turn page now my new card is rotated 90 degrees, and there's nothing I can do about it! :hissy But you just have to learn to live with mistakes, there's no Undo button with paper. I really love having my paper album, being able to just sit down and write on my cards by hand, and putting in little memorabilia.

I'm so sorry to hear that! I know- paper is a lot more work than Digi. Honestly, when I started out this year I *thought* I was going to do this paper/hybrid, and I bought a bunch of stuff for it. Then I had a reality check and realized that if I have a snowball's chance in hell of getting this project done consistently through the year- I had to go digi.

I still love the look of everyone's paper goodies, but I have my January weeks printed out and in my album already, and I'm very happy with my decision to go digi.

i am honestly enjoying the paper version. i spend so much time making digital pages that is is "fun" to actually print pictures twice a week and journal about our daily life.

I'm sorry you're frustrated. I bought an Epson Charm for this project and the printer settings are a little frustrating. I end up shrinking everything just a little and I just don't worry about perfection. For me, when people look at the album, they notice the cute things I've saved and read the journaling/writing and look at the pictures. NO ONE is going to look at your book and say "Wow, I'm really noticing the fact that this isn't centered or the journaling is almost cut off here or the borders on this card aren't even!" They are just going to appreciate the work that has gone into it.

In the words of my digi-scrap group - Good Enough!

i hate that you are so frustrated! i think with everything, there is a period of learning that feels like things will never work right! if you get through the learning stage, maybe you'll soon be able to enjoy it. ???

digi definitely has its advantages, but i have enjoyed the paper process also.

I really considered doing it digitally since by the time i was ready to order the plastics the ones I wanted were out of stock (I told my hubby that the only thing I wanted for Christmas were the page protectors...lol...guess what he didn't get me). I really want to be able to stick memorabilia and such in the album though so that's why I'm (not so patiently) waiting for the plastics to come back in stock. I did buy a SELPHY printer and have been printing out bits and pieces here and there and have made sure to write at least one thing down on my calendar everyday so that I can go back through the days and hopefully it will spark my memory. I do have to say that I'm glad that Jan./Feb. are typically light months for us activity wise because I'm really not looking forward to starting this project two months behind....but I really think it will be worth it which is why I'm stalking Amazon. Also if this project works for me I plan on buying some extra page protectors throughout the year so that I can start next January with a stockpile.

I'm like you...I bought all the things to do it with paper, but I quickly got frustrated with things. I've been doing mine digi so far, but I REALLY don't want to feel bad about doing it digi. I LOVE my pages and if they are all digi and I never end up making a hybrid page, that's ok too. I have the whole PL kit, and I'm still waiting to order some plastic protectors (they are backordered), so I might just use those for next year. When I do, I might not print out any journaling cards...I think I'll use the ones that come in the kit.

Just try and enjoy documenting your life...try not to get boggled down in the process of doing it. I have a lot of fun doing things on my computer...so for now, I'll continue to do that.

I think I will feel the same as you do if I do it physical.
I was planning to do it physical but had to change my plan since I can't get any PL products. I wanted to order from Canada and ship it to my friend's house, and she will carry it back to me in Thailand. But PayPal wouldn't let me ship it to an address different from the one on my card. So I will stick on the digi version for this year, but plan to collect some stash (washi tapes, tiny attacher, smash stamp <--- still waiting to receive this, stickers, etc) so I can use on my physical PL next year.

I think you will need some more time to figure out about the printing. Also you can cut cardstocks, or patterned papers into 3x4 or 4x6 and use as journal cards. You can also use some notebook papers and journal on it, then adhere it on the cardstocks/patterns. I've seen Nicole of Sugarplum Paperie done this with her PL. I think it looks great.

I think I will get my PL kit next week, then I will try again...I don't give up so fast...but I'm not sure how it ends...
Thank you sooo much for your replies, this really helps me! And it's really interesting to read!

Yay! You will be fine, believe me.
Then may be in a few more months when you come back to this post, you will probably laugh.
I am so excited for you to have a chance to do the physical PL.
I will get myself prepared for next year, but this year I'll keep working on my digital project.
It's fun and I love it.

I haven't paper scrapped in over 6 years but I'm really happy w/doing paper PL this year. I TOTALLY see the draw to do it digi but I wanted to use real stuff and this was the perfect project to do it since I don't have to plan a whole layout like traditional paper scrapping. I am constantly refreshing on amazon tonight for the grid cards, the last item to show up! I'm a bit nervous about printing my journaling onto those cards but I just don't see myself doing all that writing by hand. Maybe if you try to conquer one of those issues at a time? GOOD LUCK, whichever way you decide to go! :)

I am mainly doing digital for my project 365 photos. Yes, I take photos every day. I'm on my 4th year of doing it digital. But this year I decided to go with the project life format. Makes it so much easier to do my pages and I find that I now have more room to journal.

Okay, yes I wanted to do some paper too. But I hated the 12 x 12 size. When I went digital 7 years ago I went from 12 x 12 to 8 x 8 and I really like the smaller books better. So I decided to get smaller books. The ones I bought were regular photo albums. It has slots for 2 photos 4 x 6 in size. I've been doing it both digital and paper for this album plus the kids are doing it too. I add like a 4 x 6 art type card each week. My kids also have the same size album so we do it together. They love it.

I did get a new printer last week. Canon MX420. I was trying to make a 4 x 6 card for Valentine's day on it and my card kept cutting my images and journaling off. I was getting so frustrated. Finally I made the printer put a border around the photo and it worked but now I have this framing on the page that I really didn't want. I'm not sure how to get the image to print on a 4 x 6 card without putting the border? anyone know?
