Planners

Those are so cute @klee73010 and @AnneofAlamo. This thread is so not helping me stay away from planners. I can't get sucked into another thing. I haven't even started my 2017 calendars. I need to go through my 2016 layouts and see if I happen to have one from each month that will easily modify to 11x8.5 so I can get my calendars ordered for Christmas. I'm so off my game this year for Christmas... too many doctors appointments and just not feeling in the Christmas mood, but it's coming whether I'm ready or not - yikes!

I was just thinking about this! I have been a bullet journaler, but I'm tired of having to make my own calendar every week, so I decided to go with a planner. BUT, I don't like that most of them have pre-colored pages or themes which limits how you can decorate them. And I wanted a vertical format. I know, picky picky. ;) So, after much searching I found these adorable planners from Karma Paper Co. on Etsy and ordered one yesterday. https://www.etsy.com/shop/KarmaPaperCo

Now I can't wait for 2017!!

I love planners and own many...:D
But my absolute No 1 is the Hobonichi Weeks in a leather cover. It's perfect for me!

Has anyone else found the pen holder annoying though?
I hate, hate, hated the pen holder, it finally fell off and I will never again buy one! lol, I have a set of these
Staedtler pigment pens...I went thru 3 sets last year! eek! but they don't bleed thru or on and 18 hour cap off no dry!
I love them. I decorated the container and it goes with my journal in my purse!

but I'm tired of having to make my own calendar every week,
I do 3 months at a time, and that made a huge difference for me.

@AnneofAlamo My pen holder is in emerald which is a nice contrast to the berry, that's the only reason I'm keeping it, :-).

BTW, did you know that Staedtler (and Faber-Castell, as it happens) both have their headquarters in my city? Stabilo is just around the corner. Yes, I live in stationery heaven...

oh I didn't know that @Rikki , but wow!! I would be forever wanting to work there!!

I tried the planner and made the switch mid-year to a bullet journal. It's working so much better for me.

Although I love love love all the planner decorations, I found that I didn't devote time to using them, and often didn't utilize the planner at all, even if I did decorate it. LOL

I would love to get one of those notebooks that @AnneofAlamo has . . . I've put it on my Amazon wish list. I think I'll be finished with my current notebook sometime this year, so getting that new happy red one around my birthday will be a nice gift!

@gonewiththewind I can not tell you what a feeling, the papers speak to the paper lover, and then the way they feel after you write on the paper, they feel different in a better way. I can't tell you how much fun it is...all the time! I am a bit crazed, because after years of finding the right way to organize...I found it!! I used a 50 cent composition book for a few months first, and once I got this baby...oh wow oh wow oh wow!

@AnneofAlamo The book I have now is a hardbound journal with thick, lined pages. I really do like it, but ahhhh, the call of a NEW notebook, and one that is RED, and the pages are already numbered. LOL

Told myself I wouldn't let myself get sucked into the planner craze.
Ended up owning 3 lol (Kikki A5 yellow, CC Personal White and teal stripes and Pink A5 Carpe Diem). I only use the CC and Carpe Diem, but mostly the Carpe Diem. I so wanted to decorate each page with beautiful stickers, stamps etc. I always end up not decorating them lol! So I have quite a bit of opened and slightly used stuff in a small box (for now) for my planner things.

Thinking of getting a new one, I like the look of Happy Planner because of the boxes lol My daughter gave me an excuse today to voice out my wish to hubby hahaha She just drew lines on the cover of my CC.:duh I took a photo of it but it's on my phone, will post tmw lol! Hubby said good thing she used a color green marker lmao... I tried to clean with a rubbing alcohol but no use. I guess she knew she did something wrong. I kept on saying Oh no oh no what did u do. And she kept on saying mommy oh no while touching my face. Lol! I was torn between wanting to cry and wanting to hug and kiss her :lol

last year i bought a simple stories one. this year i just bought the week at a glance refills for it. i did nothing crafty in mine at all last year!

I got sucked into planners in January when I wandered into the MAMBI booth at CHA and fell in love with the Happy Planner. I bought one when they were released (in March, I think?) and have been having fun with it ever since. I don't have a ton of stuff to schedule, so I mostly use mine to jot down a note or two about what happened that day. I throw in some stickers from Jaimee's Story Planner kit and have a few minutes of playtime each day. I also have a subscription for a set of A5 inserts that comes every month. I did some work for the company that makes them over the summer (and they needed to send me a set to make sure the hole punches matched) and fell in love with the fact that the set includes enough pages of "to-do" lists to last the whole month. Those I DO use constantly!

The planner display at Michaels calls to me every time I'm in the store! My current planner goes through the end of 2017, though, so I'm going to refrain from buying another one until this time next year when they go on sale.

I originally went in for a Happy Planner. Because they were on sale, and I thought I'd try that one out. But then I saw this pretty one. And it was cheaper. And had stickers included. So, why not? LOL.

Can you share your A5 refill source? Just in case I hate my refills that will be coming in a week for 2017. You can PM it to me if you don't mind?

I got sucked into planners last year and I have a happy planner but it drives me crazy that the pages can come out so easily. I use my planner a TON and I think I'm just too hard on it. I carry it with me everywhere and it just hasn't seemed to hold up as well. I'd love to bullet journal but I'm worried I'd get more obsessed with all of the hand lettering and never actually write down all the things I need to. My mother in law has been using an Erin Condren planner for two years now and she loves it. She doesn't do all of the fancy sticker stuff. I think I may move to that.

This exactly! I love the Happy Planner look, and that you can change it out. But I worry I would constantly have pages falling out!

My mother in law has been using an Erin Condren planner for two years now and she loves it.
This is why I went with the Micheals Recollections one. It's almost identical to the Erin Condren one, I watched a Youtube comparison video. But it was way cheaper! And the little differences aren't enough to make me want to pay the extra $40 or so for the Erin Condren.

You'll have to let us know what you decide to do!

They actually make binder covers now - with snap closures. I saw them on their website and in Michael's - so with a coupon might be worth it? If i was staying w/MAMBI as my main planner for 2017, I would definitely get one.
