The power rating of the heating element is given as:

\(P=\frac{Total~heat~supplied}{Total~time}\)

**Calculation:**

**Given:**

Latent heat of vaporization of water = 2257 kJ/kg, mass of water evaporated = 0.5 kJ

∴ Total heat supplied = 2257 × 0.5 = 1128.5 kJ

Time for which heat is supplied = 18 × 60 sec

∴ Power rating \(= \frac{{1128.5}}{{18 \times 60}} = 1.05\;kW\)
