I prefer waffles because the little holes hold more of the yummy stuff. I also love waffles with whipped cream and strawberries on top. How about you, which do you prefer? And what do you top your waffles or pancakes with?
Pancakes usually (mainly cause we discovered our waffle iron was broken a week or so ago). I keep it pretty simple, just a bit of syrup and butter usually but if they are apple pancakes then a sprinkle of sugar.
I'm a waffle fan (especially fresh off the waffle iron). I usually just use a small amount of maple syrup.
I'll eat both but fix more pancakes since I've never had a waffle iron. Lots of butter and syrup on the top.
Waffles, smothered in syrup. That said I haven't had them in ages. Guess I should pull out my waffle iron.
I prefer Oh Boy Waffles from the Better Homes and Gardens Cook Book with melted butter in the recipe instead of oil. I prefer waffles because they’re bigger so I don’t have to cook as many. Lately I love them topped with whipped cream, but I also love them with maple syrup or raspberry freezer jam. They’re also delicious frozen (plain or with sherbet). Can you tell we eat waffles a lot? They’re in our weekly dinner rotation. That said, my favorite pancakes are the grain and nut pancakes from IHOP. I need to learn how to make those…
I've never had "American" pancakes. Waffles I love. And I love pancakes: In Sweden pancakes are thin. Found this image that I "stole" on the web to show you what our pancakes look like: On the image they are served with raspberry jam, but any jam is good, like strawberry, blue berry or what ever. Whipped cream is good to it as well. Or vanilla ice cream. I think those are the most common toppings to pancakes in Sweden. I've been meaning to try and make American pancakes, but it still hasn't happen. I really should do it now, bought maple syrup last week. Maybe this weekend?
I have to think about this. I rarely eat either pancakes or waffles anymore because many years ago I decided I want scrambled egg and veggie burritos for breakfast every day. Pancakes and waffles with lots of butter and maple syrup are yummy but don't feel nutritious to me, don't fill me up for the morning. I still can't decide. I like the crispiness of waffles but also the way pancakes soak up syrup. By the way, I'm also very picky about syrup and will only eat real maple syrup. So it's a good thing I rarely have pancakes/waffles/frenchtoast because real maple syrup is expensive!
@tanteva Those look like crepes! YUMMO My preference is the waffle, precisely for those little holes to hold butter and syrup. I prefer fresh made in our waffle iron, but I will eat a frozen waffle with no complaint! LOL
Depends on my mood - but pancakes are my favorite comfort food. Waffles are great when you have whipped cream and strawberries on them!
I'm more of an egg person--I like lots of protein for breakfast because I usually need to eat an early breakfast and a late lunch. If I had to choose, I guess waffles. Ice cream is an acceptable topping for waffles, so...ice cream.
I love sweet German pancakes (which are thinner and bigger than the American ones) - and applesauce with it
I like them both, but I think I like waffles just a touch more, especially fresh off the waffle iron with sliced banana, walnuts and whipped cream! Yummy! I also LOVE crepes with banana and nutella. Not healthy, but SOOOO yummy!
