@IntenseMagic 's thread about baking got me thinking about how OBSESSED I am with baking and other cooking competition shows! I just can't get enough of the Spring Baking Championship or the Holiday Baking Championship. I'm even watching seasons through a second time! What?!?! Why?!?! (The funny thing about that is I do not retain who the eventual winner was, so it's all new to me...again!!!) I'm into the BBQ Brawl, too. All that meat and fire and the amazing sides. I just want to be a judge, to be honest.

What is your current favorite "obsession" (book, show, or hobby--and digital scrapbooking can't be one of them, because that's a given! LOL)? Can't wait to hear what's getting your motor running these days!

I signed up for kindle unlimited and am reading or listening to a romcom book per day. It's pure escapism for me.

I've been obsessed with embroidery and stitching with beading lately! I've been calling it my granny craft era, but honestly, I've been in my granny craft era since I was born! I just love seeing my instagram feed full of little embroidery tutorials and finish projects right now too. I love that I can do something creative with my hands while my husband and I sit and watch TV in the evenings. :agree

My current obsession is Game of Thrones. I watched it back in the day when it premiered. But I'm rewatching it now and understanding it so much better. There is a lot of characters and wars etc. I also get when they talk about the past now since I've watched House of the Dragon and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.

I, too, enjoy cooking competitions. My brother and I even got my mom into some of them too. I'm excited about this season of BBQ Brawl and am so grateful for a reprieve from Tournament of Champions; that one is so high stakes! Waiting for all of this season of 24 in 24 to air so I can binge watch it and get sleepy with them :yawn

I love reading and currently have some fantasy books ready to pick up at the library. Low fantasy (so magic in an otherwise normal world) is a guilty pleasure of mine.

Because of a "crime" story I've been following since Jan 2024 (documented in a podcast called "Love Trapped", I've become friends with some of the content creators that talk about it on their YouTube live streams. One of them has now started streaming games he is playing. His first game streamed was Blue Prince. Then he streamed one called The Roottrees Are Dead which is a genealogical puzzle game. He streamed it on Thursday night. I signed up for Steam, bought and downloaded the game on Friday and finished it by Saturday night! He still hasn't finished it (because he doesn't quite get the genealogy of it and reads through stuff too quickly which leads to him overlooking clues that will move him forward but I digress). I found a YouTube channel that was also streaming Blue Prince so watched it for awhile. I decided to buy it and play it for myself. Because of watching those videos, more game streaming is showing up for me on YouTube. One was called "Librarian Tidy Up The Arcane Library". It was on sale (just released end of April) so I bought it and now I'm obsessed.

Those sound fun! I'll have to check them out!

I like watching all of the Food Network cooking and baking competition shows. I’ve even gotten my husband into watching them with me too. We recently finished up tournament of champions, the spring baking championships and the ultimate baking championship. Like @Brendazzle I’m waiting for more of the 24 and 24 episodes to air so I can binge them. I’ve also got BBQ brawl set up on DVR so I can watch those too.

I don't really feel obsessed with anything right now. I spend a lot of time journaling though, so I guess we could call that an obsession. I use the journaling app Day One and write like 10 entries each day. Most are short. For example, I document my daily walk with a photo or a few and write just a few sentences about it. Only about once or twice a week do I write an entry that reaches 1000 words. But perhaps the quantity of entries and photos in my journal qualifies as an obsession. I've got a daily writing streak of 3,607 days, which dates back to July 3, 2016.

My current obsession is audiobooks by Katherine Center. I listened to four in a row! I love that they make me laugh out loud and smile so much.

I love it! I have been listening to a lot of books these days, too. But it gets in the way of watching baking shows, so I tend to listen while driving or scrapping.

"Granny Craft Era"...that's perfect! Little Karen on the Prairie!

That was a whole world to try and follow! Good on you for going at it again!

I'm afraid I've watched some 24 in 24 out of order or something. I need to go back and start over, and check out other seasons? Is there one or more? I don't even know. I love your idea of binge watching it and getting tired with the contestants!

That's impressive. I was a massive journaler for most of my life, but a few years ago it tapered off. Not sure why...less need to vent (which is what my journaling mostly was).

Alrighty then! An author to explore! I love books that make me laugh out loud. I'm currently on the 3rd book of sci-fi series (Ruins of the Earth by Christopher Hopper and J.N. Chaney) that is pretty funny (but lots of military action, too, where I sort of zone out).

ya'll may laugh, but last winter (jan 26) time frame, we are not tv watchers, but love football. We got FOX subscription for football, and there is this show: EXtracted!

oh my gosh, we were late to the season, and we watched like 2 a night, and binged the last 3/4 to get to the winner! The second season is on now, but we are waiting for cold weather and football to subscribe again! highly highly obsessed.
we won't even discuss my more ears from listening to all the trials over last few months! that is not obsession, it is learning! lol

pickleball - I play 2-3 times a week and would play more if my schedule allowed.
It does seem like the people who pick up pickleball get obsessed! How did you find out you wanted to give it a try? Did someone recommend, invite you to play?

I think I would probably like this show...it was not fully on my radar, but I did get the gist of it when I saw the ads. I enjoy Alone and Survivor and other survival type shows, but I was wondering if I could take this premise...watching your loved ones suffer for money? I'll have to give it a go...once I run out of baking shows.
