60 year old Jess! Congratulations on your retirement. As you embark on this new adventure, here are a few reminders about what you wanted from life mid career!

Live life with intention. If you do not take your time by the horns, you will spend life doing things for others rather than for yourself. You will have more time during retirement--how do you want to spend it? Read great books, write everyday, scrapbook, visit with family and friends, and sleep if you want!

Live like you are loved deeply. The same God who created the marvels of the universe and all of the fish in the sea thought the world needed you too! He gave you Luke, Blake and Jaxon to show you this each and every day too. You have a tribe of friends around you--some old, some new and they think the world of you. Stop worrying about being enough--you already are!

Never, ever stop learning. Even though you are “done” working, you are not done learning new things. Make the boys and the grandkids teach you how to use the newest technology and then teach others. Learn how to play whatever the trendy new sport or exercise fad is. Make tortillas from scratch and serve it with a new recipe. The minute you stop learning, you’ll die!

Go outside more often! Take the dog (and your husband) for a walk and enjoy god’s beauty. Chase after the grandkids and teach them how to play football and swim. Dip your toes in the ocean (or the creek) any and every chance you get. Don’t worry about how you look in the swimsuit--put it in and dive in--the water is fine and so are you!

    Day 11: On this day

    Journaling Reads
Working at a STEM school, I knew we needed to make a big day out of the
Great American Eclipse. Along with Erin and Jon, I planned a school wide event where our Middle School kids taught the Elementary kids the
science of an eclipse and how to safely observe the eclipse. We ordered 500 pairs of the eclipse glasses which became a hot commodity when they
sold out on Amazon and in most local stores. The eclipse began in Denver around 10:30 and ended around 1:#0. The largest coverage was about 93% at 11:47 am. The biggest shock to me during the eclipse was that there was a marked temperature change observable even though we were not in totatlity. This day reminded me of the importance of sharing our passions with others--my excitement spread to not just my own kids (pictured here) but to my students and through them to a whole school community. I cannot wait for 2045 when the next Great American eclipse will occur. Next time Denver will be in the path of totality and I can’t wait to see it for myself.

My journey to digital scrap booking began in 2006 when I realized that making hand made pages was going to be too much as a working mom. I started using the canned "program" scrapbook max and soon realized that there was a whole other world out there of stores, galleries and forums. I joined my first online home "Digital Freebies" on iNSD in 2008 and used the name nof007750 because it was my login at work and didn't give away any personal information. I soon joined Digishop talk and used the user name jnoffsinger. As I began to join Creative teams, my stores expanded and I realized that I needed to pick one user name and stick with it so I could start having a consistent online presence. I decided to stick with nof007750 and now more than a decade later (wow! how did that happen?) that is my online identify for good or bad. Sometimes I wish I had something more meaningful or artsy, but it would be too much to change now.
