I have been scarce this week because we had a really nasty storm roll through on Monday night and wiped out almost our whole town's power. I had taken Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday off work and we get Thursday and Friday off work for the 4th of July and I had plans on scrapping all day Monday and Tuesday because I knew it would be rainy. Well, instead, I've been bored stiff and my kids are going into withdrawals without their daily hour of Minecraft. LOL! So, today after lunch we came to my parents house to charge our devices. I brought my laptop too so I could scrap a BYOC page too. :) Now I have to head home to my dark house. They said it might be Saturday before we get power back. Ugh!

I am really happy that we have a gas stovetop and gas water heater so we can cook some and take warm showers at least... but BOY am I lost without my computer! First world problems, huh?

Oh no!! You were affected, too!? Our power only went out for a few seconds and came back. But the area near our school was hit hard and still doesn't have power. Summer school has been cancelled this week, too. Crazy! Glad you're okay, tho!!

Oh goodness, Karen, that is awful!! i am so sorry. Did you lose all your food in your fridge and freezer? Lots of reading time, right?

Uughh! So sorry that you are without power, and for all this time.

I think we got the same band of storms that you did, Karen. We had serious, SERIOUS wind damage in our area ... trees were down everywhere ... house damage, vehicle damage, roads were completely blocked.

About an eighth of a mile from where I live, stretching about 4 miles west and north, I swore it looked like a fricking tornado went through. And wouldn't you know, they confirmed just today that, in fact, a tornado did set down in our area. And unfortunately a man lost his life in the storm. Also a fourteen year old boy who was crushed beneath a tree when it fell on his house while he was sleeping.

I slept through the whole stupid thing, didn't even know it had rained :huh :huh

Oh no! We've been without power for a week+ a couple of times over the past few years and it is so tough especially with no water, fridge, etc. even a generator doesn't ease the stress of it. Best of luck getting it restored soon!

that stinks karen. hoping it comes back quicker than expected for you! we had storms yesterday but it worked out in our favor ... went from being 90ish to 70ish ... felt good.

Still no power today. I'm currently sitting in my van charging my phone. It's only 61 degrees outside too, so we can't even go to the beach. Thankfully we have a BBQ to go to tonight so that'll get us out of the house. I'm thinking a bike ride around town is in order for this morning.

Kathryn... You must be close to me, because we heard about a 14 year old boy that died near us too, and another man around 67 years old too. So sad. I couldn't believe how many large trees were just snapped off and laying across the roads and over power lines. Those poor electrical workers are going to be working a lot of overtime for the next few weeks I bet.

Ugh. Hopefully they can get it back on soon!

We lost ours for a bit Tuesday night (an hour or so) and before the storms were even over we had power back. I feel for those workers that were out in the wind and rain and thunder and lightening getting everyone's power restored.

Hope it's back on soon. A few years ago I remember our power being down for about 4 days and it was torture.

The 67 year old was in Lagrange, about 10 minutes from where I live and the 14 year old lived in Winona Lake if I'm not mistaken, which is quite a bit further from me, half hour or so, maybe 45 minutes.

So sorry that you're still without power. :(

Man that's awful! Storms like that are scary, I really feel for you as far as the power goes, I'm definitely spoiled. I'm so sad about the loss of life as well, terrible!

Aww, hope it gets fixed soon. Thank goodness your family is close enough for a quick visit! I'm worried for the East coasters now, as far as storms go. Here's hoping that storm stays off the coast for y'all in that neck of the woods!

I HAVE POWER AGAIN!!!! Woo-hoo! It finally came back on yesterday just as we were leaving the house for a 4th of July party. I'm so happy! We cleaned the entire refrigerator and freezer before putting our cooler food back in there and it looks so nice now! Now I just have to catch up on laundry.

Fun enough, while I was grumping about having no power, my sister texted from her vacation in the Outer Banks, NC to say that a hurricane was barreling down on them. YIKES! The eye of the storm passed directly over them, but thankfully they didn't lose power and had no flooding or damage. Phew!

Whooo Hoooo!!! Hope that clean fridge lasts a while. I'm glad your sister's in the clear too.
